flat output curve all the waythrough its projected 7,500 rpm redline.
Lightened valvetrain components to provide excellent dynamic performance up to speeds well above the engine redline

Ok.
But I wasn't asking what the redline on the M3 is. I KNOW the M3 redline is higher, THAT'S why it was performing better at the track than the GT and that's why the Boss' redline has been set higher. The higher redline for the Boss is the major reason for all the strong components of the Boss 302 engine. The GT's 5.0 could not take the sustained punishment of a higher redline and the engine needed to be strenghtened.
(You've got to stay with me here folks, I'm building a case for WHAT the "secret" is.)
Which is actually more proof that the engine will be able to go higher than 7,500 rpm. Ford wouldn't put all that time, effort and money into boosting the redline just 500 rpms. I believe the engine is going to be able to go to 8,000+ rpm's.

So let's say this magic key does allow you to run the LS at a higher redline for "track" use. Does it also come with a little message that pops up on the dash saying "Congratulations...you have just voided your factory powertrain warranty" ?

Doesn't matter..I was still telling you what it was
You were comparing the GT to the M3 and why the M3 kept building RPM/Speed.
I still say the GT is more the generic workhorse and the BOSS engine is made for track.
Even an extra 500rpm is 500rpm.
Keep guessing on the secret :P

I'm going to assume that the cars black box records all the history of the "magic key's" use. So if something happens during it's use it might not be covered. I say "might" because since Ford allows you to do it then it would stand to reason that the car is intended to perform that way. I'm not a lawyer but if Ford gives you the ability (right from the manufacturer) to boost the cars performance then they can't deny you coverage for what the car has been built to do.

Boomer, I guess we have to clarify which model we are talking about. If it's the LS than this might be possible. If it's the base Boss than I say no. Ford and it's dealers make too much money selling extended warranties. Who would buy one if with one push of a key button voids it?
If the "key" is only for the LS edition then we are all wasting too much time on this issue. If the key is only for the LS then it's not even news worthy. Anyone buying an LS is going to end up modding it beyond anything the "key" would do anyway. As I said before..."much ado about nothing".

What if it wasn't part of the car, but something you buy after?
You could get it at any time...
Wait for the warranty to run out and go from there.
Just thinking out loud.
