Dude, I totally would love to do that. If they offered built in, interactive data services straight from the NAV screen, THEN I would consider it. Otherwise, I have a fully loaded Cobra for the top speed and comforts piece. I want my Boss to be a little rough around the edges but smooth on the track.

Uh, if you are looking at the photos you might be mistaking all that shiny stuff for leather when in fact it is something you youngsters may never have seen before. It's called vinyl.

I'm not sure why we cant have a car that performs at a high level at the track and still have many of the creature comforts found on other premium mustangs. Most cars in the GT's price bracket that are performance minded(EVO, STI etc) are still track inspired but have options like NAV HIDS etc.. Not sure why we have to receive less. For those that dont want it let them opt out of it. For those that do like me let us get them.

If you took the boss which is probably going to run around 41K and add all the options you will be looking at 48 or 50K so just go ahead and get the Shellby if that's what you want. The Boss is aimed primarily at people who want performance. Thank god Ford is going this route because it makes it affordable to more people.
These options aren't expensive.

I'm just messin' with him. I did actually own a Black Jade 69 Boss 429 and it came standard with the deluxe interior. The high back bucket seats were covered with something called Comfort Weave VINYL. Oh and so are the ones in my current project car...a 1970 Mach 1 428CJ.

So I've been looking into electric cutouts. Couple of companies sell a set with a lifetime warranty for a bit over $200 bucks. Not too bad.
Could be the only mod I do on this car since it's so perfect

Some facts ...
In 1969 and 1970, all Mustang (incl. Shelby) seats were a variation of VINYL. The top Luxury model Grande' also had vinyl but with premium "cloth" inserts as an option.
If you wanted Leather seats in a Mustang you were SOL unless you opted for the Cougar version with the XR-7 package from a Lincoln/Mercury dealer. You could also get Power Windows in the '69-70 Cougar's, but NOT on the Mustang. First year for a Power Window option on a Mustang was 1971.
First year for Leather may have been some time between '74-78 on the Mustang II (I'm not very familiar with these), but if not 1979 / the 1st year of the FOX body Leather was definitely available.
For the SN-95 models, A/C, Power Windows, Locks, and a few other comfort features became standard at some point between 1996~98. Since the stripper model hardware already existed, Ford could still delete these features as they did on the 2000 Cobra R and could have on any other SE thru 2004.
To make a 2012 Mustang MORE of a stripped version than a base GT would cost FORD a ton of extra engineering $$$ as no '05-up production Mustang has been built without A/C, Power Windows, Mirrors, Locks, Keyless Entry, etc.

So for those wanting to remain faithful to the original.....does that include deleting power windows in favor of hand cranks?

I just found this post over at www.boss302.com from a person that was involved with this new generation Boss for the last 28 months.
"I drove the Boss 302 a month ago on our Dearborn test track with the group. No restrictions (for the first time in my career). Drove it hard on the road course. I love my 2011 Mustang GT, but this new Boss will put the outstanding 2011 GT on the trailer. Very evil stance, staggered tires, quad exhaust with factory cutouts (basically quadraphonic V8 sound), outrageous handling and a 3-4 shift that generates rear tire squeal. 440+ horsepower...revs like crazy...redline north of 7000 I could go on...cloth Recaro seats, Brembo brakes, runners in the box intake, the graphics...ah nevermind."
He also stated this about production #'s; so somewhere between 1600 and 7000....
Volumes are under discussion, as is price. Rest assured the 2012 number will be way less than 1970 Boss volume, but significantly more than '69

Money may not be a consideration for you, but for most people it is. You may like HID's others may like the security package or Shaker 1000 but that's not what Ford put in the package. If you don't like the package, buy it and modify it if you are so willing to pay...what's the problem?

You can easily have HID lights put in but you prefere to gipe endlessly about an awesome car so obviously your glass will never be more than half full.

The boss is more a less a package that Ford believes a certain group of people want. If you get anything you want, then it won't be a boss, it will just be a mustang with certain options.

If there is no Shaker, IS there a radio???
It seems pretty stupid to build a car like this and not offer a security package. I think everyone who buys one is going to be concerned about security.
I can see the LS model being fairly spartan because most people who buy that model are going to track it.
But I can't see Ford turning a blind eye to "options" that have basically become standard features.
We'll know more in a few weeks/months.
