Shyte, I wouldn't mind having 500 crank-hp, never mind 500 RWHP ...

its danger zone man! DANGER ZONE! Didn't Kenny Loggins and Top Gun teach you anything. (well other than you can take the script from Top Gun, change the planes to race cars and call it Days of Thunder).

For his Boss to be making 590-600 at the crank, driveline absorption would have to be about 20% which would be pretty high, his car is probably closer to 560-575 at the crank, maybe 590-600 if you put it on the dyno with no accessories and an electric water pump.

Depends on how much HP the driveline is absorbing, 15% for a GT500 is a fairly reliable figure prior to the inclusion of the 1 piece driveshaft. The MT82 in the Boss and GT is lighter duty so it absorbs less power.

I am assuming the OP has forged internals? With that much horsepower at the crank, isn't it better to have forged internals?

Not sure exactly how but I know the rods are better even than the GT500.
Also there was a guy here making well over 600rwhp on stock internals in an early 2012 Boss before he sold it.

OVER 600rwhp on stock internals? WOW!
Thanks!

@ 2k the rods in the Boss are powdered metal with a cracked cap, the GT500 rods are forged and have a lot more to deal with (2000 psi combustion pressure events and piston speeds at around 4860 feet per second when the 5.8 is in over rev mode compared to the Boss which sees around 4570 feet per second (put into perspective the GT500 rod travels almost a football field farther in the same time at 500 less rpm)
I can't see Ford stuffing an inferior rod in there just from a reliability standpoint, especially considering the 5.8 uses around 100hp to drive the supercharger at full boost.

That would have been me. 783 RWHP on a the "heartbreaker" mustang dyno at Evolution Performance. This was in June 2011. The vid and article links are in my sig. It was over 900 HP at the crank. Only mods were the ATI crank damper, o/r x pipe, S Type muffler, 72lb injectors, KB Boost a Pump, and of course the KB 2.8LC blower and throttle body.

Someone over on BMO has hit over 500 whp, I don't recall if the cobrajet intake was used or if it was cams and other "bolt ons" Quick search could find it
