Safe & Smart Option Package

Looking at 2018 GTs. I haven't seen any in the area that have the safety package. Can it be added as a dealer install or factory only? Anyone looked into price? I think it's $945 MSRP from the factory. Thanks!

I wouldn't think it can be added after the fact, and if it can it ain't gonna be cheap. There are sensors everywhere, the windshield, and rear quarter panels. There may be aftermarket systems that would be cheaper.

The package on the 18's was $1495. But, it can with several different niceties, i.e. memory seats, rain sensing wipers, etc. For 2019 the package dropped to $1000, but some items were dropped with the price.

BTW, it is an excellent option. I would say so nice that I would consider a '19 if I couldn't find an '18. The blind spot, and cross traffic sensors are great to have with the blind spots in these cars.

Thanks! I was hoping it was a situation like the Tesla 3 sensors where every car got them and the cost was just to have it enabled in the software.

I agree. Seems like a good value but for 2019 they pulled the BLIS (blind spot) out of the stand-alone safety package and moved it to 401A as a standard feature. So the package dropped by $495 but now you have to spend a lot more than that to get it. My plan was to have a 300A with a two options packages (black accents/safety). I'll have to do without BLIS but I do like the automatic emergency braking, lane assist, and adaptive cruise. I bet that BLIS sensor is there so maybe someone will find a hack to enable it!

Yeah, I saw that Ford moved the BLISS to the high dollar package. What a load of crap. My guess is someone high up said "let's see if that will sell more 401A's.

You could do a search outside of your area. Many of the larger dealers are very adept at shipping vehicles around the country. Just a thought. Good luck on your search. Our '18 is the brides, and she really likes all those safety features, And, I do too when I get to drive it.
