I have a 2019 GT and want to put in racing seats & harnesses and wanted to ask if anyone has any recommendations?

Thanks so much

What seat do you have now? Please Note a true racing seat is going to be hard to get into and out of, (more so if you are over 30). They are designed to keep up planted while driving thru turns at high G's. So what is the primary use of the car? and if the car is going to be driven more then 45min at a time true racing seats are not comfortable. For me I do drive mine on the street more then on the track so I have a set of factory Mustang Recaro's. If you want a little more of a keep your butt planted but I still want to be able to get in and out of the car with some grace look at Sparco and make sure you get the sliders as well. If you go with any aftermarket seats you will get a "Air Bag" light, You can use a 2 ohm resistor to over ride that but need to goggle it for the how to. As far as Harnesses; I use Schroth 4 point anti sub. But a word of warning when using Racing harnesses. If you are going to use them you need a roll bar and Hans type neck restraint. With factory belts if you roll the car over the factory belts allow your body to move out of the way of the collapsing roof. with racing harnesses you are glued to the seat back which means you will be crushed by the roof. That is why if you use racing harnesses you need to have a roll bar. in a frontal crash your factory belts allow your head and body to move forward into the air bag thus slowing your head and body down at a somewhat safe speed which keeps you from braking your neck. Racing harnesses keep you planted in the seat so your body stops very quickly but your head wont thus hurting or breaking your neck (ask Dale ). So if you are going to use harnesses you MUST have a Hans type devise. Also if you use racing harnesses you will need a seat belt buckle override buckle (ebay) so that the seat belt warning bell doesn't drive you nuts. A side note: I Never, Never drive on the street with racing harness without my Hans device they are dangerous.

Thank you so much 1 Old Racer for the through and prompt response! ....good stuff and just what I needed! I think I'm going with a RTR (Schroth) QuickFit Pro harness with a compatible HANS. Also need to order the HANS helmet anchors. Pumped for the 2025 DE season. I live in CT SO run intermediate class up here in the Northeast with SCCA/SCDA....Limerock, Palmer, Watkins Glen, NJMSP, etc.

Thanks again and much appreciated.

Best,
Chasseur

no Thompson Speedway (road course) ? :)

I live right near Thompson, did a buch of HPDE's there a few years back with my 2010 (which is not competitive but still fun) .... hope to get back in to it this year, maybe I'll see you there

I definitely see the need for better seats, would love to find a set of factory Mustang Recaros to keep the air bags, but they are hard to find and/or expensive if you find them

Hey Bert! Yes, I run at Thompson as well...love it and hope to see you there someday!
