Premature Question.. When will info start coming?

Sorry if this has been asked.

When do you guys think details of the 2015MY Mustangs will come out? I know it won't be at least two more years, but just curious when Ford usually starts releasing information or leak out.

I mean, around the time the 2010's went on sale, rumors of the Coyote and 3.7L were already floating and sounded legit. Just curious when that kind of info would start coming, and when Ford usually shows their cars during auto shows.

Does August of 2013 sound reasonable? The 2015MY 50th anniversary model will probably start selling in March, 2014, like the current cycle, so maybe half a year prior or maybe a full year?

Thanks!

I was wondering about more of when we'd actually see a model at a show or something

But thanks. Yeah, I know it's too early to tell

I'd say closer to 'very little if any' than 'most'

as far as the GT, no way they getting rid of the 5.0 IMHO. wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much potential there. I would like to see a 5.8 or bigger in the gt500 to compete with camaro/challenger when the time comes. IMHO i think the 3.7 v6 will stay, and again wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much potential there with that motor as well.

I would bet you'll see it at the Detroit AutoShow about 1 year before they start taking orders. I would imagine they'll stick with the same build schedule. Orders start in november and begin building in Jan-Feb.

As far as we know, Ford hasn't even decided if they are going to base it on existing chassis (and which one) or if they will be developing an all-new chassis. It's quite possible that they have made the decision but there is no public information to that effect.

From what the insiders and other close observers are saying, the decisions are being made "right now" and the major decisions like platform, configuration, and drivetrains will be locked up by pretty soon.

i am more interested in getting my fix on 2013 details, which i want to buy. From what we have heard the 2015MY with have 50th anniversary badges so i will hold off on that new model till 2016MY. some may want the badges but i would prefer the normal badging

for the gt im sure we will see mytouch, most likely a dct trans, the 5.0 will be around for a while probably upgraded with direct injection, possible irs. that about covers the catagories im interested in. as far as pictures goes your not going to see for awhile like the others have said. i would give the pictures about 1.5 years. i agree with boomer when it comes to body styling cues and things that you appreciate when you drive these vehicles everyday. but as far as drivetrain goes i still think most of the info is out there

From James May's interview he said approaching 2012 you will see a modern interpretation of the mustang. It will be smaller, lighter and they will get away from the retro look. From now till the end of this year they will show pictures of what the next mustang will look like.

I can't wait no really if I have to wait any longer i will go crazy.

If they do, that will be great. Putting the 50th ann. Until 2015 MY would be a mistake if they make the car so it has a wider market. It would mean one year of lost sales, if they can get it ready. The current mustang is nice, but it does not sell like they have in years past. They can make it great for enthusiasts and a larger part of the general public, but not in its current form, and not just with a slight refresh. They could change the plant, too so they do not rely on mazda and can keep the factory working on more than one shift a day. Make it more efficiently and make it so that it is more popular. If you can do that by 2014, then do it. If they do not have any intention of selling it before 2014 calendar year, then they really would not have to show it this year if they did not want to. There is still a good amount of time before MY 2015.

Either way though taking the mustang out of AAI could be good. Get a place that can run 2 shifts per day.

Thanks for the helpful info

I can't wait!!! The 5.0 is a beast, so even if the drivetrain doesn't change I won't care. I'm more curious about how the 2015 will look, but like most of you said, it's too early

I hope they don't go smaller. The reason why I like these Pony cars (Mustang, Camaro, Challenger) is because they're big, wide, and mean.

Had a SN95 but really was wow'd by the S197

AAI can run two shifts, they just don't have the sales volume to do so right now. Where are you gonna move it to and try to make it on its own?

I wouldn't be surprised if whichever platform they choose for the '15 ends up in a Lincoln. If so, they could build both at AAI and still keep the volume up some. Mazda is acting funny right now, and I personally don't think they're sticking around in AAI after the 12MY.

Once platform and other considerations are made, we might see really crude mules (current body grafted on new platform) spy shots, but won't see any hard design features till early 2013 IMO.

Sure, but which car really is ever going to have enough. Sales to do so. Mazda is not, and it is unlikely they will stay. Even if they do, they can't really sell enough to run 2 shifts. Pair the mustang with a better selling car and they both can get the savings from having 2 or even 3 shifts. I have a mazda. They are not bad cars, but they just don't sell enough to maximize savings of really high volume.

Wait a minute, I though we decided the 50th would be the 2014MY?
