Richard Petty has jumped into the mix of companies offering a special take on the new Mustang, specifically catering to buyers looking for something a little more unique.

The racing legend’s performance company, Petty’s Garage, has teamed up with the guys at Ford to build 143 special edition Mustang GTs, according to a FoxNews.com report.

100 of the cars will be Stage 1 models featuring a 627 horsepower supercharged Ford Racing/Roush Performance 5.0-liter V8 engine, MagnaFlow center exhaust, HRE FlowForm wheels, and a Petty’s Garage bodykit. The Stage 1 cars will also come with a stock car-inspired spoiler, custom upholstery, and an autograph on the dash from the legend himself.

The other 43 special edition GTs will be Stage 2 models and feature Petty Blue trimmed three-piece 20-inch forged HRE wheels, a Wildwood big brake upgrade with Petty Blue calipers, and a two-tone Petty Blue and black paint job with the number 43 ghosted into the roof pillars.

The Stage One models will sell for $62,410, including the price of the donor car. The Stage Two models will go for $92,410.

Car is Fugly.

Can't quote you. Because IB is fugly. Their advertisers are going to quit because IB won't maintain the site and eyeballs and traffic gets less and less everyday. Advertisers and sponsors are just wasting their money at the 'new IB TMS'. IB are such dumb****s.

I'm actually surprised he doesn't have a similar deal going on with Dodge, as in offering special edition Challengers being that he raced strictly mopars and then later on with Pontiac :dunno:

The Grabber Blue paint has heavy metal-flake in it and just looks like *** in the sun. Black is a Tuxedo Black with flake

Probably because he currently fields Fords in racing.

Good point Hillbilly ! I also wonder at times why Petty never raced for Ford back in the day lol. As I can only imagine how many more races he could had won :nice:

He did in the late 60's. '69 I think, in a Torino Talladega.

I will wait and see..not a fan of the paint job at all, to include the painted wheels. Let's see some tests..

I think those Petty Garage Mustangs are stunning. I am sure they will all sell quickly. If I had my GT500 paid off, I would be very tempted to get one of those Petty Garage specials. What a gorgeous Mustang ! There is nothing I would change about the Petty package , but I wonder why the stage 2 is so much more expensive than the stage 1 package.

WoW ! Excellent memory lol. As I had no idea that Petty ever raced for Ford.. Did he race for Ford during the 60's or was 69 the one and only year ?

Btw; Love that 69 Torino Talladega too :nice:

If memory serves me, Petty switched to Ford because he thought that Plymouth was no longer competitive in NASCAR. Although this might be urban legend, it's rumored that Chrysler developed the Superbird to win Petty back to Mopar.

As a side note, when NASCAR banned the Hemi in the mid-60's, Petty and other Chrysler drivers boycotted NASCAR, and he campaigned an altered wheelbase '65 Barracuda with a hemi in NHRA and named it 43Jr. Naturally it was Petty Blue.

That's very interesting stuff indeed Tom ! Guess I just totally forgotten throughout the years, but then again, I was only in my tween years back then too :jester:

On a lighter note, It would've been really awesome if Petty could had somehow stayed on with Ford throughout the remainder of his career :nice:

It also doesn't surprise me about the urban legend behind Chrysler developing the Superbird in order to win Petty back to Mopar, as it obviously worked lol.

Couldn't we just by a roush mustang since petty is gonna charge us double for one?? Cause I mean those wheels are not $10000 along with all the other c*** he's offering

Well believe it or not, but those wheels might be 10K. They are HRE wheels. HRE make one of the best wheels out there, as far as quality goes. Plus, those are custom color HRE wheels, so they may be close in 10K price.

But, I am with you. I would rather get a 2016 Roush Stage 3 with the Phase 2 kit. A 2016 Roush Stage 3 Phase 2 car with drag radials will put you in the 10's in a quarter mile for sure!

Most likely they are around the 5k-10k but my point is someone who buys the car may not even want those wheels, and will end up selling the for 3/4 of the values there worth and you're already losing money, if the car had a supercharger or perhaps a turbo made by him them it'll be worth the "Richard petty edition" I could get my car and paint blue and black and put rims on it and say "I have a Richard petty edition" but I don't think anyone will buy it, maybe a few but it hasn't beaten any records or raced so what makes it special compared to our ordinary mustang or the roush even, but hahaha :nixon: btw is the parts from recent mustangs 11-14, able to swap on 2015 mustangs 5.0's? Like the bbk throttle body because I have yet to seen one besides the v6 or v4 in market
