Although I've just recently joined, I've been following this forum, off and on, since 2004 when the S197 was about to be released. The hysteria surrounding the release of the 2005 kept the Mustang in short supply for over a year. Especially the GT, which many dealers added thousands of dollars to the MSRP. There were many threads devoted to this "rape charge."
By all accounts, the new generation Mustang is leaps and bounds better than the model it replaces. And yet the hysteria is gone and I see no evidence of widespread markups. Has something changed?
I'm not complaining. I'm planning to place an order for the 2016 very soon and I expect to see it priced below MSRP. But I can't help but remember the days when a GT was sold the day it showed up on the lot. And it was anybody's guess when a customer order would finally arrive.

yea I always buy off the lot. I'm to impatient to order.

Back then you did not have Camaro and Challenger available, just the Mustang. So the dealers today have to keep it reasonable since there are alternative cars (but just not as good). Also internet pricing is much more widely available so most people know the price the dealer wants before they even go to the dealer and get it even lower.

Good points. Also a TON of hype went into the 50th anniversary (which received massive mark ups) and the GT350 (which I will be surprised if they don't have markups). So I think those two specific models overshadowed the "basic" models didn't receive the markups.

I think ten years ago ADMs were rare and today they're more common (unfortunately).

there is buzz that dealers will be charging 30K plus for the gt350 is that true
