Just sold my beloved 2011 GT! Questions about S550 Performance Pack
So my experience with my 2011 GT/BBP was something close to amazing. Yes, the S197s have their drawbacks but it exceeded my expectations in every single way. It felt fast and fun for every mile.
A friend of mine had been hunting all over the place for the right Mustang and things came together that it made sense to pass the car on. It was the right choice but I'm slightly heartbroken.
Answers and opinions on any of the following would be most welcome!
1.) How are former S197 Coyote GT owners liking their S550s? Do you miss your old car?
2.) Is it true that the new version of the Coytote ismore "moddable" for power? How are they taking to bolt ons, FI, etc?
3.) I gather that the axle half shafts are a weak link...how difficult/expensive is a fix?
4.) Are there any easy places to shave weight?
5.) I keep reading that the new suspension turning is too soft/roll prone. What are folks doing about this?
6.) I kept my 2011-2014 RTR wheels with the 285/35/19 tires. Will they fit over the Performance Pack brakes?
7.) Do we know what the 2016 "over the roof" stripes are going to look like?
8.) Anything else a former S197 owner should know?
9.) Why should I pick this over a 2016 Camaro SS (aside from the obvious "it's a Camaro")

That said, the new LT-1 sounds spectacular and honestly, it looks as good as the S550 to my eye.

2. Not Sure, but have read that there were some internal improvements.
3. Nothing to fix, just upgrade if you plan to add serious power and/or plan to drag race with drag radials or slicks, otherwise the stockers are fine for just about everything else.
4. No real weight saving places, but they don't weigh considerably more than the 2011-2014 GT's, so nothing to be real concerned with.
5. Having owned non-track pack S197's prior to my 2015 GT PP, I don't think there is much roll or dive at all compared to my prior GT's, but some still want stiffer springs.
6. Your wheels and tires will clear the 2015 GT Brembo brakes just fine.
7. No idea.
8. The 2015 clutch is hard to find the engagement point compared previous years, even with the helper spring removed.
9. That's all on you. Personally I prefer the better ergonomics and outward visibility to the Camaro, and a smaller more rev happy engine.

If you can get over the conservative/aging "redesign" of the 2016 Camaro...I'd really consider buying it. LS/LT engines have proven their worth in the aftermarket. Everybody out there does LS swaps and they are built very strong and respond well to mods and boost. Very cheap to mod as well, compared to the Coyote. They are on the ATS platform which is a great platform. I'd at least test drive a 2016 before making your decision.
