For the new pony car, a performance benchmark is the dragstrip; something maybe diehard Mustang enthusiasts have been worried about since Ford announced that the new 'Stang would have an independent rear suspension instead of the old solid rear axle. Well, Ford Racing is here to quell those fears.

First, I realize that this is an article for the web page but isn't the thread redundant? https://themustangsource.com/forums/...racing-533118/

Secondly, I'd hardly call installing heavy duty halfshafts without mentioning it (except in the mod list text) as "quelling fears" about the IRS.

So apparently you can't drag race the new Mustang unless you get some "rear subframe kit" and heavy duty half shafts... :(

Not sure if you guys noticed or not but they are running them on slicks. We use have to go to 31 spline axles and upgrade the torque boxes on the early 5.0 mustang to run slicks at the drag strip. You just need to pay to play. I am guessing the car will be fine on street tires at the strip. They also threw a tune at the car that took the engines to the limit. They just wanted to beat the aftermarket company's to the punch with the first in the 12s the 11s and the 10's kind of cool haven't seen any other car company's do that.

Probably also to show the IRS is adept at running times most drag racers will see with the new car. I'd like to see somebody push the IRS even harder.

WHY are they continuing to ignore the 3.7?
