I can confirm that pushing the button while backing out of the driveway will shut off the car.

I've always been curious. Could you turn off a key while driving?

OK Woody, I can say now that I do like the push button start. However, I have to get the '13 out of my head, and quit reaching for the keys when I get out of the car.

I also like the push button start. Now you need to install the red start button on you bride's new 2018 Mustang. Awesome looking new 2018 Mustang convertible.

Couple of push start questions ...

Pop start ... can you pop start or bump start the manual, e.g. when the battery is dead/dying?

How far from home can you get without the key? That is, forgot it on the counter, but car starts,
and you drive off into the sunset for a couple of hours ...

I think as long as the key was in the car when it's started, the car can drive off without the key for as long as it wants until the car is shut off.

Was with a friend when we traded vehicles with his mom. He's got an Infinity. We left the cars running, and he forgot his keys were in his pocket. His mom drove 1/2 hour away without any keys for the vehicle.

My 2017 Fusion has PBS but it's so quiet it's easy to forget that the car is still running. Not a problem with the rumble of the active exhaust on my 2018 GT.

The good thing is, you get one free start if you forget your keys. So, if you remember you forgot after you've turned it off, you need to go straight home after that free start.

The aggravating change for me was the high/low beam switch being moved to the steering column. My dang foot kept getting tangled up in the steering wheel.

Granted you don't lock the car before you realize you don't have the keys. But didn't know you had one free start. I'm going to have to try that out.

If I remember correctly, you get the free start for only a few seconds after the car is shut off. After those seconds pass, it will not restart unless you have the key/remote.

Okay. Yeah. I do remember that in the manual.

Yeah babe, that's one important fact that I inadvertently left out. Thanks Crash.

My 05 GT is a manual so every time i drive someone else's car I put my left foot through the floor thinking there should be a clutch pedal there.

I just recently (July 20th) have gone from a 13 manual to an 18 auto... I don't find myself reaching for the clutch, as I got used to the auto start on my wife's Murano... Now I auto start my 18 EVERY time, just something about hearing the bad boy start up from the outside that just gets me going... With the engine already running, I just do the switch to sport mode and OFF I go...

Wife's car is also push button so I have no issues with reaching for the key.... Yet.

I don't mind push start, but I HATE the FOB. It's like a brick in my pocket. Way too big, and cumbersome. My wife's $21,000 base model Subaru Legacy uses a key start with the little buttons for the doors and trunk built into the key itself. Much simpler, and works. I think what car makers have forgotten, is that we have a HUGE key FOB, but also several other keys attached on a key ring. Unless you're a woman with a purse, it's terrible trying to carry it around in your pocket all day.

My wife's '15 Honda CR-V has a fob and push button start. I keep the fob in the watch pocket of my jeans and never have to mess with it. Love it. I still have to use the key in my '14 Mustang, but it never causes me any problems to switch from one car to the other.

I agree, the fob is way too big for what it needs to be. The panic button was too easy to push before, even recessed a little, in a smaller package. Now in a larger fob, the panic button is bigger, and just as easy to push as the other buttons. I've already set off the alarm more times in 6 months of ownership than I ever did in the 10 years with my '06, just with the fob in my pocket.

I'm tempted to open it up and desolder the panic button button.
