The FociST and FiST aren't maxed, you never want to run a turbo at max, but it is near capacity. The issue with the Focus and ST is the way they also run a torque management system that limits torque in 1st and 2nd gear. Now it is probably to control the torque steer these cars have, which is very prevalent. This won't be an issue with the RWD Mustang.
My friend has an 8spd. auto 2013 328i with the 240hp 2.0L turbo engine...that car flies. Now imagine an unhinged 310hp 2.3L Mustang, a car with the same weight...this car is going to fly if tuned. I just pray that Ford sees fit to give this car a good automatic for those that don't want a manual. A turbo charged car with a good automatic are a good match. Boost drops off between shifts, not so much with the automatics, well a good one.

The F ST twins are tuned very well but very specifically to excellent street performance and succeed admirably. However, as noted, there isn't a lot of system overhead to tweak for additional gains, Ford pretty much nailed it stock tune.
I think the Stang 2.3 will likely be reflective of this successful strategy, even if amped up a touch more towards the performance direction. The result will be great, out-of-the-box street performance but perhaps without a great deal of additional power with stock turbos, i.e., chipping the thing won't generate hero numbers.
All of which is fine as the Egoboost 2.3 will likely deliver perfectly for its intended clientele while the V8s will deliver the ultimate firepower for those so desiring.
Future random card: Egoboost 3.5...?

Agreed, but the aftermarket will take off for these cars as they are now for the Foci. There is already turbo upgrades and everything under the sun including LSDs. I got to say I love my little FiST.
