Another 'better in person'
Another 'better in person'
I was distinctly unimpressed with the pics... but stopped this afternoon to look at a '15 in person (on my way to look at the '15 Challenger). Looks way better in person. Saw a Race Red with anniversary appearance package... and it looks freaking good. Much better from the front than the pictures. Interior is nice. Still don't think it looks as good as the '12, but better to my eye than the '13/14. The wheels are nice. One of biggest gripes with the 13/14 was the giant license plate area... and honestly, I didn't even notice whether the '15 has that or not. If it does, then I don't like that.
But from a quick five minute walk around/study, the only thing that stuck out to me was the teeny 'spoiler' looked cheesy. So like many before have said, you gotta see it in real life.

I don't like the lower portion of the rear bumper on the 15's. I hate the single backup light and the area on either side of it. I still haven't seen one in person yet since none of the dealers that I have been past have any. Maybe I will change my mind once I see one in person.

I'm an old guy, whose first Mustang was a '65 coupe. Over the years, I've owned several 'Stangs - two Cobras, a 01 Bullitt, etc. I'm really trying to convince myself that I need a 2015, but when I see it "in person," I'm just not there yet.
I agree from a couple posts up, the 12 front end was a favorite (we have a 06/07 and 09) but I liked the 13/14 tails better than the 10-12...in pictures anyway- in real life, still liked it better, just not quite as much. the 15 just dont call to me at all still, did stop at local big dealer last week, still none on the lot yet... want to see one out in the sun- things can look a lot different in the real world than under harsh lights behind a barricade... hope to check some out soon.

I had my first sighting in person tonight. Holy sh*t. The car is beautiful at night time, with all the lights illuminated and the street lamps reflecting on those rear haunches. I think it was black, 5.0 PP car. The owner and I exchanged thumbs up and cruised for a bit. That rear 3/4 view MAKES this car. I'm officially a believer.
saw one in person last night for the first time....it was parked so I got to walk around it for about 15 minutes. Im not sure what the designers were thinking, but the new mustang is awful looking in every respect. The front looks off - looks like a hammerhead shark thing going on with the lights being spaced so far apart. The rear is an afterthought as well - doesnt fit the lines of the car at all. Not a chance in hell Id ever buy one. I get the "family" similarity with the Focus and the global marketing concept, but this reminds me of the Mustang II - its gonna need to change drastically to sell the numbers they want. This bums me out.

Looked better in person to me to. Local dealer has a black GT in stock. The biggest impact is from the drivers seat. Reserve judgment until you have sat in one and looked out over that long cool hood with those gorgeous hips staring at you thru the side view mirrors. Then fire it up and its instant grin all around! The GT sounds better than ever with what sounds like a more aggressive exhaust note. Drive it and you'll forget about what it was you did not like about the exterior.

I still haven't seen one in daylight or for longer than a couple seconds, so I still reserve my final judgement, but I didn't see anything that made me want to change my mind... Still happy I went with the '13...
I saw my first one the other night too (it drove past me) and it looked great with the lights/tail lights, but I felt that way about the 10-12 Mustangs too, which I also do not care for the styling (but looked good at night)... As for the '15, like I said, it looked good in the dark with the tail lights, but most of the angles are just *off* for me... Which is okay, we all have Mustang's throughout the past we don't like/care for (I really don't like the look of the 80's Mustangs), but hopefully the next redesign will be more to my liking...
If not, I still love my '13...

Finally got to see a 2015 GT at my local dealership in race red and it appears that most of you were right.. It definitely looks so much better in person..
My favorite feature is by far the full fastback greenhouse on the exterior along with the more aggressive hips.. It's indeed sleeker over the outgoing 2014 S-197 and the interior is far more refined even in the base models..
However the new Mustang doesn't quite blow me away like the current 05-14 models did when Ford first introduced them in mid 2004, at least not to the point where it screams out to sell my current 06 GT in order to get one..
If I were able to own more than one Mustang ? Then yes, I would order one in a heartbeat but until then, I'll continue to enjoy just owning my current Mustang for now..
I also don't see fusion in the front grill now that I've actually seen the car in person but I still prefer the separate A&B pillars on the current S-197 models.. So I suppose that's just something I'll have to get used to not being on the new 15's

I finally saw two '15's at a local international auto show. I spent a lot of time around the car, in the car, looking at the car from a distance.... I still just don't feel it. It just doesn't have the "identity" of a Mustang. It's a nice looking car, but kind of a Fusion-BMW-Genesis morph. However, I will give the stance of the performance package an A+. Finally, you can get a factory Mustang that sits on the road correctly. The interior is okay, not drastically better than the 5th gen, and a bit too fussy. All the sheet metal bends in the hood and roof lid look stupid. Like a fish.
I don't hate it...in fact I like it a bit more than the initial reveal pics. But, to me, the 2013 Boss 302 that was at the same show stole the Mustang show. It looks like a Mustang.
I'll test drive a 15 whenever the dealer gets a 5.0 PP 6sp manual in stock. We'll see how I feel then.

I drove my first 15 GT, PP, Recaros, black a few weeks ago in Okemos. After the drive (loved it) I parked my 13 GT right next to it and compared the looks for a while, IMHO it made my 13 look outdated & wimpy. I love everything about the new car except for the front end & I guess I can get over that. Maybe the 16 GT350 (or whatever it's called) will have a nice facelift. After all I'm sure Ford's #1 gripe is about the car is Fusion like front. The more I think about it, if other Fords didn't have the same front look I'd really like it just the way it is !! Anyway, it's nice to see a completely NEW car after 10 years. Scott
