6th Generation ?
We are into the 5th generation now, the 6th will be a new chassis? Horsepower doesn't matter because we can make our Stangs into any hp we want.

Lot of speculation as to whether the NextStang (6th?) will be a:
It is given Ford's stated goal to significantly cut fat, along with the trend towards using global platforms (as opposed to the Stang's currently bespoke, USA only chassis), that I think #3 is the most likely. Those goals would be harder to meet with #2 and probably impossible with #1.
Thus at this point, I would speculate:
- Mostly carry over version of the current platform
- Significantly modified version of the current platform
- Basically new platform altogether

Thus at this point, I would speculate:
- A slightly smaller Mustang dimensionally
- About 200 lbs lighter
- A bit more of a modern interpretation of the Stang stylistic DNA to appeal to a broader, international market, but still very much a Stang.
- A bit more balanced performance envelope, including IRS for improved ride AND handling.
- V6 and V8 will essentially carry over, perhaps with DI to get a couple MPG and HP with a bit less halitosis. An Egoboost 4 banger is likely too.
- Price will be in line with current models.
