2016 V6 or Ecoboost..Which to get?
 

For my daughter. She isn't going race. She already as 2014 V6. Ecoboost is a few more bucks a month. She can't afford Perf Package.

Is the Eco worth it even without the PP over the V6?

So if I understand correctly, your daughter has already a $28k 2014 V6 Mustang and she wants another $28K Ecoboost Mustang, but she can't afford a $2000 Performance package option? Please explain the logic behind being able to handle monthly payments for two cars totalling $55-60K, but not being able to add $2K for options?

Why does she needs two DD Mustangs if she doesn't race? One with Rear Independent Suspension for the sunny days and one with live axle for the rain?

It's all about the boost. Test drive them both to feel the difference.

Turbo 4 also falls on its face after 5k...id rather have the V6. Just me...

Not sure why you would say it falls on its face after 5k when the HP peak doesn't occur to 5500 rpm. Up to that point the v6 is significantly down on power compared to the Ecoobost. It's not until well past 5500 that the v6 catches up and only up near its 6500 rpm peak HP does it have an advantage. On the street low and mid range torque is where it's at. You spend so little time above 5k rpm on the street it's hardly worth considering.

FWIW, the 70 Buick GSX was arguably the fastest of the muscle cars. It's HP peaked at 4600 rpm and torque peak was 2800 rpm. So not having high rpm power is certainly not a disadvantage.

V6 for the sound. Mustangs should not sound like Hondas. I was in a quiet neighborhood the other day when I heard some car whistle. I thought to myself, another Civic owner trying to show off... but I saw the same car passing by 30 second later to find out it was an Ecoboost Mustang. Yikes...

Which ever you buy I suggest test driving it a long distance at highway speeds, 60-76 mph and note ANY vibration. If you feel anything don't be fooled into thinking its the tire because the chances are its not. My 2016 has this defect and Ford wont fix it, they say its a characteristic of the car. Good luck

Would you say that there is a noticable change in drivability/comfort between the 2014 solid rear axle and the new IRS?

Yes new one is definitely smoother. To the point where for some it might be dare I say...a bit tame in comparison. 2014 feels much faster too. But I love the new one, wouldn't go back.
New one is much better made right down to better cloth seats on the base model. Like a whole new car.
