I can't believe that pic was first shown almost ten years ago. I for one always felt that Ford let us all down a bit when they translated the concept into the production model. It just seemed a little too watered down. With that said I aggree it is still very relevant. |

Now, I suspect the '15 is going to look nothing like that, so time to move along ;) |

IIRC the production vehicle was already locked in and complete, while a different Ford design studio in LA did a concept based on the production vehicle as a teaser. |

Well lets not be picky about the chicken or egg thing. Just saying the production model was watered down. I for one am hoping the 2015 doesn't look at all like the 2005 concept.

Thanks for remembering me Phil, as I've also missed being on here.. Anyhow if the 2015 were to look more like the 2005 concept, then yes I would trade in my 05 GT in a heartbeat.. However we already know that is not going to happen as J. Mays confirmed over a year ago that the 2015 Mustang will not be evolving from the current S-197 platform at all :(
|
I hope your right about that Phil, as I would like to see a retro modern version of the 69-73 model years, but once again I don't see this as becoming a reality unless J. Mays from Ford is throwing us all a curve

My apologies Steve ! As that was what he meant in the video.. So yes, he did say the design will be different.. At any rate, I misinterpreted what was said and took that as meaning the design for the 2015 would not be evolving from the current retro design of the S-197 Mustang..
No worries! I was a little confused, but it's all good now. |
I think they it may be totally different looking still. Even if on a modified platform it can still look quite different. This updated platform is probably going to be like the evolution of the fox to the sn95, I'm sure it will feel like an all new car
|
I thought we knew the platform was new, not a re-hashed S197? Also, don't expect an all-new design without a platform overhaul. Whether that's lighter material or a completely new set of underpinnings, it won't be the same old car.
