Yeah I doubt we'll see any fox redesigns..so anyone thinking the mustang will get smaller is in for some rude awakenings. We still need room in these cars (well as much room as we can ask for)

You can visally look at 2005+ and recognize the Mustang heritage.
I said this a thousand times, its not so much retro..more a modern interpretation. Really, its what Mustangs SHOULD look like.

Really between the 3 major/minor changes since this re-introduction 2005, 2010,2013..
...the overall look of the car is VERY similar.
So much infact from a distance, sometimes you can't tell until it comes more into view.

I think the next car will evolve this look, but stand on its own for the most part.
Payin homage to its heritage, but also looking forward to its future.
Not an easy task.

Boomer, looks like you missed the memo.. The Mustang will indeed be smaller as all Ford products will now be manufactured and available world wide. To be able to pull off this feat they need to make the 2015 more compact for the foreign roads. All the renderings I have seen still has the 2015 a S197 type of vehicle.. It will not be, 2014 is the last S197 model.

...or your memo could be wrong. We already know that 2015 will be S550. Doesn't mean that it can't have similar, evolutionary styling from the S197 cars.

Define smaller and/or lighter.
1 inch less in height/width/length is technically smaller....
1 gram less is lighter
Again, not mutually exclusive.

I said you will never see a FOX sized Mustang again.
And you won't.
Take it to the bank.

Stop holding back info from the rest of the forums Pete! :jester:

I think Ford has purposely thrown down a lot of tracks for everyone to guess.. I happen to love the S197.. But just like when they changed the full car with the New Edge.. I think it will be a surprise to everyone what they do.

I can't see S550 being much, if any, smaller than S197. Besides, the current car isn't too big for our cramped UK roads, so that's fine.

However, in terms of packaging, the S197 is pretty poor compared to my e46 BMW 330i. That's a 5 passenger, RWD, 4-door saloon with a straight 6 and it is significantly smaller than the Mustang.

The point is, the S550 doesn't need to be any smaller than S197. If it can match the likes of an Audi S5 in terms of packaging, that'll be job done, for me.

My helmet rubs the roof already, can't get any lower.

So S550 is the new platform name? Cool.

Did Mercedes name it? :jester:

Any other code names been leaked?

I agree, albeit that Retro is "Modern interpretation of a classic design" I know what you mean. The term Retro has come to mean something more like recycled and old which is untrue. It would seem that Retro really has become a 4 letter word.

Something not quite right about it...can't seem to put my finger on it.

Twin Turbo 10/11/12 12:24 PM

Boomer 10/11/12 12:25 PM
