But anyway, the point of me quoting him and I was it was neat to see that I wasn't the only one who saw a little bit of accord and Z in it... Even if we are in the minority.

Someone photoshopped this but yeah kinda. Accord flanks inspired, fusion front, integrated C and D pillar. IDK that is what I see. I think they made a mistake not going with the C and D pillar like this rendition





Yup, that would've been a MUCH BETTER choice.
I know I'm stuck in the past, I love the retro Mustang. I knew the '15 would be more Euro styled....but I think they went too Euro. The above photoshopped brings Euro, retro, and modern Mustang together.

I'm sure it will sell well and it will perform very well. But they've lost my interest in the car.

Like the optional paddle shift, and independent rear suspension. If the 5.0 has over 500hp, It's worth a test drive to make my final decision..

I really doubt theyd be able to squeeze 500hp out of the coyote without going F/I
My guess is around 450 tops with 400-410 lb ft
Of course with a lighter car, IRS, AND Launch Control we could have a serious street machine here. I can honestly say i love this new gen.

Pretty good read...also details on the changes to the 5.0 for 2015. Think it's gonna be rated close to 460-475 flywheel.

Setting the acception bar a bit high on this one.

No doubts this car will outperform anything in the current standard line-up.

The more I see it and the more I see of it, the more I like it. The rear takes a bit of getting used to, but it couldn't be more retro if it tried--that is as close as a non-first-gen Mustang has come to looking like the '65 in the rear. The rest of the car looks really good for a car. It's a Mustang, so it's taking me some time to digest, but taking the history out of the car and lining it up next to anything else, foreign or not...have to say it definitely makes the "final cut" for me, so to speak.

I am pleasantly surprised with the redeisgned 2015 Mustang. Given what had been widely speculated, I was prepared to be underwhelmed by the new design. Instead, I actually find myself liking certain elements of the car. I'll reserve final judgement until I actually view the car in person and spend time behind the wheel. I would have liked to see some stronger Mustang cues in the exterior styling but the car still retains the basic Mustang DNA.

While I LOVE my '13 and won't be parting with it ever, I will at least consider a GT as a daily driver replacement when my current daily driver needs replacement. Overall, I'd give it a B+ which is much better than I originally expected.

Ford deserves credit for never abandoning the Mustang faithful - no other American car company has demonstrated their on-going commitment to a single group of enthusiasts more than Ford. Chevy and Chrysler certainly can't make that claim

That render with C & D pillars looks awful. The direction they went was nearly perfect. It's time to get out of the past, and get with your new client base. Inspiration clearly came from the Vanquish, M3, and even some Infiniti Q50. I don't even see Fusion when I look at the front, I see Infiniti. The only thing they could have done to improve this car, was dump the silly sequential tail lights, the oversized steering wheel, and the goofy GT/5.0 badges. It's not 1964, or 1987 anymore. Time to get with the program and dump the things that still hold this car back from being taken seriously by high end enthusiasts. It's hard enough on Ford to have to build a car that must span the price gamut from 20k to 60k. Imagine what they could do if they dumped the under 35k crowd.

I was thinking the same thing. For the first time ever, the 5.0 badges look immature, goofy, and dated on this car. They cheapen this sophisticated new design. This car deserves to be elegantly stealth.

I don't know what to think. I think it is okay right now, but I need time for it to grow on me. I know that I thought the newest gen was "okay" when I first saw it, but then the more and more I saw them, the more I grew to love 'em and now I own one!

Can anyone link a pic of a 2015 side by side with a 2011-2014, if they've seen one? That might help crystallize my viewpoint.

First off, it's B & C pillars. The A pillars surround the windshield. The B pillar is what the door latch is attached to. The C pillar is where the rear window is. The steering wheel has been confirmed to be smaller. The sequential taillights are iconic and unique. The badges can be removed, but probably have a locater pin.

Yeah, that's what I thought, shouldn't have just blindly quoted his thread. If the stupid sequential tail lights are so "iconic" why were they gone for 30 years?

Yeah, the 5.0 badge has to go. I'd remove the GT badge as well, it looks silly. And hopefully they don't saddle everyone with that since 1964 badge on the dash. They are SO CLOSE with this car, just a few small tweaks and it's perfect.

A lot of it has to do with the font. Notice the squared off "0" reminiscent of the 90s? That font looked great in 1993 as did the smooth curved letters on the 11-14. The mixing of the two fonts looks like an afterthought...Not to mention will look even more outdated as this body style ages.

I think the small, italicized versions on Car and Driver's render were perfect. God I wish that car was released - there were no details that I didn't like.
