2015 GT w/GT500 wheels

6 Attachment(s)
Turns out the wheels off my 2014 GT work perfectly on my new 2015 Mustang GT w/PP, including ample clearance for the 15" 6-piston Brembo calipers/rotors up front. I measured the backspacing on the factory PP wheels and these are almost identical. Now my Pirelli's can be saved for the summer.

Additionally, it appears the TPMS sensors used on the 2010-2014 Mustang (still in my old wheels/tires) are compatible with the 2015 Mustang, as tire pressures were getting reported from each wheel without requiring re-training for the TPMS sensors.

Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport AS3's @ 265/40ZR19 Front and 285/40ZR19 Rear versus the factory PP tires at 255/40ZR19 and 275/40ZR19.
Wheels are Ford Racing GT500 Forged wheels:
Front = http://fordracingparts.com/parts/par...KeyField=12305
---- 19x9 with 40mm offset, 6.6" Backspacing
Rear = http://fordracingparts.com/parts/par...KeyField=12304
---- 19x10 with 51mm offset, 7.6" Backspacing

Factory 2015 Mustang Performance Package black wheels: (spec's below are molded into the back of the wheels)
---- 19x9 with 45mm offset, approx 6.7" Backspacing
---- 19x9.5 with 52.5mm offset, approx 7.2" Backspacing

Good to know. I read that the 2015 wheels would not fit 2014 and down. Interesting.

Looking good man. I am partial to those wheels myself :)

I kinda like those wheels, too! Biased, I guess!
But, I went with the traditional sizes 255/40 19 F, and 285/35 19 R. I see you changed yours up a bit. Glad they fit the 2015, good for you, enjoy!

Anthony K What rims are those ?? Does your car have the PP ??

Anthony k 1/3/15 05:22 AM

Yes it's a performace pack car.

They are Eagle Alloys. Made in the usa.

They are my old track wheels from an 08gtcs. They are nice from 5' away. Not show car wheels by any means. No curb marks on the face, but there's a bend on the inside lip. Balance perfect and stable to 150!

2snake 1/3/15 05:45 AM

What size are they.. I looked around cant find them.. Who sells them ?? Thanks

Anthony k 1/3/15 05:57 AM

Eagle Alloy brand.

20x8
20x10

Discontinued

OP the GT500 wheels look great on there! Those wheels are so handsome. I didn't realize there was a 285/40/19 size - I am looking into replacements for my stock tires come Spring. I'll take a look at that size! :nice:

kn, do you think that means all of the 11-14 wheels should work on the 2015s? I really like the Ford Racing 302S Laguna Seca wheels (11-14: m-1007-dc199lgb) and now I see that LateModelRestoration is even showing them as 05-15 compatible. However, they say that for those wheels, you must buy the splined lug nuts. Any input or comments?

Yes they'll fit just fine, essentially the same size and dimensions as the GT500 wheels in the OP, except they're cast instead of forged. You do need the 2015 style lugs though.

Thanks, laserred38. That is great! Uh, do you mean I will need the special aftermarket splined lug nuts? And I was wondering if those were rated for 150 ft/lbs (the new spec), tho I suppose they must be...

Is it because the 2015 lug nuts are too big in diameter for the 11-14 clearance?

To be honest, I'm not completely sure. I know they changed the studs on the 2015+, so that's one reason the lug change is needed, but as far as the spline style, I didn't realize the GT500/Boss wheels had smaller lug wells than the standard wheels, so I'm not sure on that.

I don't know either. Since LMR said if you had a 2015, you would need the spline nuts, I figured it was for clearance. I guess I will get the wheels and see if the 2015 lugs fit. Then get the spline nuts if they don't. Thanks for the input!
