weird thing happened trying to put in sport mode

Hey guys, New around here.

Anyways, I tried to put my '11 mustang gt/cs in sport mode today.

Hold brake, tap traction button twice.

Didn't seem to work.

So, I turned car off. Put ignition in second position not cranking it over.

Tried the brake, 2 button tap. Message came up "sport mode".

Fine.

Tried cranking it over. Weird screech noise.

Now i just get click, click, click from battery. Neighbor tested battery,it's bad.

I don't know if it's coincidence, that the battery all of a sudden went bad,or did I screw something up putting sport mode on while ignition is in 2nd position?

I have done the same with no issues. Sounds like just one of those things.

Thanks for replying , guys.

We put a portable battery jumper on, and the car starts right up.
Drove it for around 10 mins. Turned it off. click, click, click.
So, I have it scheduled for an appointment at the Ford dealer for tomorrow.
They said the battery should be under warranty if that's the issue.

I replaced the original battery on my 2010 after 3 years of use. In my 2007, I got 2 1/2 years out of it.

I would imagine the problems isn't that the battery failed because you tried to put it in Sport mode, more the Sport mode didn't work because the battery was already failing.

A failing battery can cause all sorts of odd scenarios before it dies completely.

That makes sense.

I had to replace the battery in my 2012 less than 11 months after I bought it.

I went in for my 5k oil change last October and asked them to replace the wipers, those were replaced under warranty... warranty is a good thing
