Ive noticed im getting a consistent smell during hard and soft acceleration. It also feels like its taking longer to catch the gears as it goes. Auto trans. Any thoughts? Im still under warranty. Thanks in advance!

That is the smell of the cats...might have the dealer check the exhaust for leaks....also look at the trunk area for air leaks from outside.

Is it all the time or just with the windows down....could it be other traffic?

I notice it the most when the windows are up. I thought the same about other cars and took it out at night when the highway was empty, smelled it then as well.

Isn't the battery close to the interior air filter? Might make sense to try it with the AC on MAX and see if it can be reproduced.

Ooh, yeah. We had a '67 Mustang that did this to us. One bad cell in it, and it was cookin'. Drove everyone nuts until it dies, and THEN it was obvious.

Not sure about the acceleration part, but yeah, that car *stunk* from that battery. Good one, gashi!

cats or battery are good calls.

but with it in a closed cabin, that makes it hard to ferret out the problem

It would smell much, much worse... I knew a girl had a old Ford Escort - it smelled like waffles coming out the vents - never found out why...

I have the same issue as the OP, under heavy accel it just smells bad. Warmed up or not it is the same. I haven't tried it with the Traction control turned off to see if it's dragging the brake or something.
I have tried it with the A/C on, off, and with the air turned off completely.
oh and its an 11 GT prem Automatic.

This has been an issue since mile 12(picking it up from the dealer) of owning the car for me, 20k later it is still the same.
Haven't asked the dealer about it since they seem to look at you like you have 3 heads when you bring up dumb things like this to the service dept.
