No Oil!!!!

Dealer called today and said they are certain the engine is damaged. My advisor was 99% sure that I would get a new engine. He said Ford has insisted that they tear the engine down to determine the cause of the failure before they authorize a replacement instead of a repair. The dealer confirmed that there were no leaks and were pretty certain the car came off the truck with less oil than required. He told me that checking the oil is no longer part of the Pre Delivery Inspection. I made it very clear that there is absolutely NO WAY i will ever ever accept a repaired engine in my brand new car. I hope FORD does the right thing. Updates to follow.

Maybe I missed it in the thread, but I would be questioning why/how a 2012 model car could be 3-4 quarts low on oil and not have a low oil warning light, message or something come on. Does it have one? I mean cars 20 years ago had low oil sensors.
I find it unacceptable that checking the oil is not part of the PMI. That makes no sense. I would expect all the fluids to be checked and topped off as required, just as I expect air to be in the tires, and at the correct pressure.
Then there are idiot lights as a warning, and fail-safe mode after that.
i wouldn't except a rebuilt or new motor option...i would demand a brand new car,a replacement car till it's built....or they would hear from my attorney...
good luck...hope everything works out....

I don't recall seeing anything in the owner's manual saying that there is a low oil warning light.
Still don't have my car. Dealer called and said Ford finally authorized them to replace the engine. He said they were not going to put in a "short block" (whatever that is!) but a whole new engine off the line. I'm not familiar with these terms and I haven't had time to google them! Anyway, dealer said they'd keep me posted. I have a brand new loaner car, so I'm really in no rush.

A long block is the entire new engine - block and heads complete.
Since damage could both be in the bottom end and the valve train (cams, etc.)/heads, they are doing good for you by replacing the entire engine!
