Creaking Noise from the rear suspesion/trunk?

Hi guys,
I am the owner of 2013 Mustang GT premium.

I recently bought a car and only has 1900 miles on it.

I've seen decent amount of people are having the same issue as mine.

Whenever i go onto the speed limit bump or pot holes this creaking sound (as if someone is jumping up & down from the bed), is keeps coming up from the rear of the car. (Driver side, "LEFT") Especially, when its cold outside.

I took it into dealer and they replaced the "rear shock" but still having the same issue. I told them it might be the sway bar link "bushing" problem but they said "Maybe" and did nothing so far.

I've seen threads regarding of this problem and someone mentioned that it is "trunk weather stripping" that is causing the creaking sound and some other people are saying that its the "bad sway bar link bushing".

Can someone please help me what is causing this creaking sound?

This is so annoying and embarassing!!!

Thank you guys!!!

I have a 2012 sixxer that had the EXACT same problem. I know the sway bar on yours probably has a larger diameter, but I'm guessing overall design is identical. At first I thought it was shocks too. But it didn't make sense for shocks to go bad at 17k miles. That lead me to the sway bar. I disconnected the sway bar links from the body; Sure enough, they would both squeak and squeal as I rotated them around the sway bar (driver side was way worse than passenger side). So I replaced them. I think they cost about $20 a pop from ford. And it only took about an hour or so to switch them out. And guess what? No more squeaks, creaks or squeals.

Hope this helps!

I had this issue so I stopped and opened my trunk. I found that my trunk monkey was not secured and was slipping around on his bananas.

I have this same exact issue that I'm trying to figure out. I've heard the sound for about a month now sounding like something was in my trunk jumbling around. I had took everything out of my trunk and it still made the sound. I forgot about it after a while (because I usually can't hear it with music on). So this week I was driving with no radio on and now it is squeaking just as you'd mentioned. I hear it on the Driver side in the rear. So I'm going to bring it in to the dealer this week and hopefully they can help. I have a 2013 V6 with this issue.

This started happening not too long ago for me as well (around 10k miles). I originally took it in for a clunking sound I was hearing, but on the way also heard some creaking noises. They couldn't replicate either while they had it. I planned to record it to show them the clunking, but now the creaking overpowered the clunk.

I did notice after a bit that the clunk only happened on small bumps in the road, and the clunk seemed to happen right *after* the bump, and only at lower speeds (maybe too loud otherwise?) which makes me think something is bouncing and banging

Anywho, I tossed the gopro in the back window today to record the creaking, caught some good ones. Worst one at around 40s (going slow over a speed bump, really exaggerates it, but I hear that sound most of my drive now). This was taken just leaving my parking garage. The garage is really smooth, so imagine on any normal bumpy road...

I am waiting on replacement keys to come in (my fob works about once every 10 clicks or so), so when I go in for that I will have them keep it this time. It sounds like I am driving an old junk car

Was the rear sway bar unbolted or replaced at any time?

The sound only happens when the temperature is below 40s..

I'm taking in to the dealer where i bought my car.

I'm going to ask them to replace the sway bar & links, if thats possible.

Really embarrassing to hear these kind of noises from brand new car..

Yes, this seems to be true for me too. Will make it awkward for me to get fixed now; as the temps get higher I won't be able to demonstrate it at the dealer. It is only now that it got a bit warmer that I figured this out unfortunately (i.e. noise not there in the fall when I got the car, nor on less cold late winter days)...whatever is making the noise.

Took my car in. The noise started as creaking, and is now a clunking and squeaking noise. Dealer checked it out and said it was the swaybar. Now I'm waiting for parts.

I went to my dealer and told them about the whole sway bar ordeal and they didn't really believe me. So they told me it was a shock and they replaced the rear driver side shock but of course the sounds is still there. They basically said they knew what they were doing and looked at me like I was dumb and said the sway bar was fine lol (which I don't believe).

It's weird because I feel like the sound changes slightly sometimes. It first started as a sound like something was moving around in the trunk, and then there were some squeaks and it all changes slightly every day so its hard to pin point the sound and explain it to someone. I do agree that the colder it is the more noticeable it is.

So I'm going to try to go to a different service center and explain my situation and hopefully they'll help, but at least I got a free shock out of this so far!
