2011 Mustang GT - Adding Coolant

First time ever posting in a forum so here goes. I have a 2011 Mustang GT and wanted to add coolant to the reservoir. When I undo the cap I get this sealed unit.

no idea what to do. I have searched on YouTube but can’t find anything that can direct me on what to do.

Any ideas?

Welcome,

First Time I saw That!

They Are a Ratchet Style Cap. You Have The Bottom Half Of Cap Left After Cap Came Apart. Try & Pry Top Loose Right above Threads. Then Screw Cap Back On And Remove Again & See if It Comes Off Complete. I Would Replace Cap Regardless as it May Not Hold Pressure Correctly.

Cap Should Be Readily Available Locally!

I Would Be Curious at Seeing Pic of Underside of Your Cap!

The Area Between The Threads & Small Round Center is a Rubber Gasket Which is Likely Stuck to Top of Tank. That Part is Supposed To Float as Cap is Unscrewed!

That's an interesting point of view of that cap...never seen it detach like that...but yes, that's the bottom part of the whole cap that became undone. Follow KC's advice and you should be good to go.

Looks like a new radiator cap is going to be coming your way…
