Trunk carpet with rear seat folded

I have noticed this on all S197 cars-with the rear seat folded down the trunk carpet looks sloppy, sheet metal can be seen along with the white material under the carpet. Any way to arrange the trunk carpet to make it look better? Any trim piece available aftermarket to clean it up?

Could always staple it down but idk if that would solve the problem. Ive noticed it too and it sets my OCD off. I spent an hour cooped up in the back trying to make it look better the other day but no decent results. I tried tuckin it away, duct tape on the under side, and even pullin it at tight as possible but nothing worked

89-95 Thunderbirds had an optional fold down rear seat with the SC...those cars had a cloth piece that connected to the rear of the rear seat, and Velcro attached the other end to the trunk carpet. This specifically solved this issue, I think I will visit the upholstery shop...

Fox body flappers. Go acquire some. :)

More detail: The Fox body hatchbacks had the fold downs, and they also had some flapper panels that you could manually flap over to make the whole thing one long floor from the back to the front. So you could get some (or make some) and solve the problem that way, I'd reckon.

Hm. That totally gives me an idea I *really* don't need to be chasing... but now it's in my head.

Adding to the List. :)

Double sided tape?

It's just a cheap design on Ford's behalf, any correction will have to be home-engineered.

The carpet doesn't extend as far as it should, so even if you stick it down, there's still exposed metal. And plus, there's this chasm between the seat and the trunk.

I never really thought about it until how, because it didn't bother me, but now that I've thought about the flipper panels, that's GOING to happen, for my car anyway. :)
