SYNC and the iPhone 5S

I recently upgraded my phone to the iPhone 5S from the 4S because I like to stay behind the newest greatest wiz bang trends in phones and save myself some loot. I am wondering if there is anyone out there using their 5S with SYNC and if you are having any specific problems. Thanks.

I have the 5s and have no issues at all.

No 5s here just the regular 5 and it works fine with sync except I don't get text messages like I guess is possible.

I have the 5s and no syncing problems that I'm aware of. I mainly use the phone, with it.

Thanks for the info. I have never been able to get text messages with any of the phones I have paired.

5s here. No major issues. I actually was able to get the texts, but a lot of the time it would say "from unknown." However, I get so many texts a day, I just turned off notifications. It was so distracting while driving. I'd rather just check them when I get to my destination. What issues are you having?

I haven't had any issues as I'm in the states dealing with a family emergency. When I get back next week I will see what's up. Is there a How To on getting the texts to come through? I have never quite figured that out.

On your bluetooth settings for Sync, turn notifications on. That's all. On the car, it's automatically on, once you have it on your phone settings. You can turn if off on the car, but you have to go through 3-4 menus to get there and it doesn't save it when you turn the car off.

I think that's my problem, I don't have that option on my phone under the Bluetooth/sync folder.

What iOS are you on? And what firmware is your sync on?

tom281 Dec 7, 2014 06:59 AM

8.1.1 and sync says its up to date although I couldn't tell you off hand what version it is.

That's so weird! Unpair your phone and pair it again. I've seen all kinds of weird bluetooth issues in my day. And can you post a screenshot of your phone's settings available under Sync?

Tried deleting the phone from sync and repairing several times, no difference. Here's a screen shot.

Are your contacts stored on an Exchange server? Or iCloud/on the phone?

tom281 Dec 7, 2014 03:06 PM

Exchange server.

That's probably why. Are they all on exchange? I've seen exchange stuff not able to be transferred over bluetooth before (Tesla Model S used to have this same problem).

Stevedotmil Dec 8, 2014 09:36 AM

He meant there's an exchange server error when trying to upload pics to the forum. I have this problem with my iPhone after updating to 8.1.1 OS.

No...his contacts are store on an Exchange server. He posted this screenshot above my post. A lot of times information from Exchange can't be shared over Bluetooth. Actually, I've seen a lot of compatibility issues with Exhange, not just Bluetooth.

tom281 Dec 8, 2014 10:20 AM

That's correct, my contracts and calendar are synced thru an exchange server for work.

On a different note I have no problem uploading photos to the site with this software version.
