A silly question about the cup holders

I never use the cup holders for holding cups. You want to bring liquid into my Mustang? YOU SHALL NOT PASS.

I use them as a cell phone holder for when I'm using Bluetooth and not using any sort of dock.

One problem, though, is that on hot days, that cup holder area just retains heat like no other. If I put my phone in there, it's just baking. Heat = bad for smartphone batteries. I can run the AC on full blast but it's not like any air is going to make it to the cup holder.

I know it's crazy, but has anyone encountered this and done something about it? It almost makes me wonder if I could put some kind of insulated padding in there to keep heat out...

It would help if you insulate the center console from the floor boards of the car. There is a lot of heat from the tranny hump and possibly from the shifter area.

That actually makes a lot of sense. I had wondered if the transmission was contributing.

I just watched two youtube videos, and it looks like the center console can pop out without removing any screws, I'd just have to remove my shifter **** and have to disconnect some wiring.

Do you have any recommendation on an insulation to throw in there?

See if you can get your hands on some Reflectix. Good insulation value, but only about 1/2" thick.

just doing the tranny hump under the center console won't help much (been there). it will reduce some noise though. to do it right, you need to remove the seats and carpet and get that whole area.

YOU SHALL NOT PASS

Had to laugh at that one. I'm ok ok with a coffee or drink in my car. I draw the line at food and especially seeded buns of any sort. LOL
