Still no appearance of this unit. That's pretty maddening.

I was thinking the same thing. Not really pleased with Ford for integrating the HVAC controls and the Head Unit together. The 05-09 was much more aftermarket friendly in that regard.

I gave up on a decent looking aftermarket setup and made my own ...

Can't imagine why not- but that's a good queston for the tech foks there. For us non-sync folks, it's not really an issue.

You will be removing the ACM to install your Double DIN .. so no .. you will not be able to use sync unless you purchase the SYNC add-on adapter. But if you are adding a full featured GPS/NAV HU ... what would you need SYNC for ???

I tend to agree. Other than some of the phone features like voice dialing I would rather have a touchscreen for most of the radio functions.

All new nav HU's have Bluetooth and mics for voice dialing if your phone supports it. The only thing you would be losing is vehicle health reports. Most HU's hav USB ports and iPod support as well.

Dmhines is corect. Most all head units, Screen or regular have USB's now. Bluetooth is a little bit rarer however. But the ones that do have bluetooth aren't that much more expensive than the ones that don't have it. Plus with the recent push for head units that work with app based smart phones like Iphone and Android there are going to be some units coming out, or out already, that are more integrated with those phones than ever.

This unit from what I have read only has one set of RCA's however. Not something I would use but some would want it.

This is more what I would choose. DVD, USB and reads SD cards. My tunes are all on and SD card in a reader plugged into the USB port so all I could just swap the card and would be able to get rid of the reader.

Or this one if you would rather have the 7 inch screen. I dont like the motorized face. More of a chance of things to go wrong. And no bluetooth.

So with one of these and the Scosche Kit you are looking at anywhere from $600 to $900 to swap out the head unit. Not counting any installation you would pay. Of course doing it yourself is super easy, all you have to do is match the colored wires together on the harnesses, the parking brake wire for a Touchscreen is the trickiest part really. Overall its still not bad and better and cheaper than getting it from the dealer.

Way better than the Metra for sure. Metra needs to step their game up!

Brett,

I apologize for the wait. We have had multiple release dates on the kit, but had to push them all back due to production delays. We are finally set to release the kit Mid-November.

Thanks,

if Scosche dumped the factory display and used their display instead like metra did it would be so much better. Placing the double DIN opening so low looks like azz. What's the point of keeping factory display? To see outside temp and compass?
