OEM Rear Parking Aid Mod
Kicking off this thread. I'm far from the first person to do this, but adding in this so that people have access to my repository file.
2013 Mustang OEM Parking Assist Mod - Google Docs This document goes through virtually EVERYTHING I'm at the point where I will be installing the sensors on the car. I decided NOT to put them in the painted part of the bumper, but actually the trim below. Haven't tested it but we'll see how it works. https://photos.fife.usercontent.goog...-gm?authuser=0 https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/themust...9eb76a4211.png https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/themust...f9fc43dd47.png |

First fitting. Ordered new connectors and wire to set this up. Would like to finally put this project to bed. |

Had to remove the plugs and sensors and go in from the back AFTER the trim was installed. Video inbound soon. |
So quick update guys. As I anticipated, (not planned for but anticipated). The sensors being this close to the ground are basically kicking off false positives. Not the full on buzzing of a car within inches. But even if I am 20 feet away from anything the ground is triggering something within 14 inches. I haven't given up though.
According to my research, it is possible to block the ground from triggering, I have never seen it done or anything, but apparently it's theoretically possible. I will let you guys know. On the bright side, it DOES work and when I'm about 6-8" from a vehicle it does switch to solid buzzing. So I just need to work on disabling the non stop beeping. More to come |
