Is NAV system better than shaker 500 for audio ?

Given the price point of around 2k for the NAV system and besides a nice LCD screen, is the audio better than Shaker, or it is simply a nice LCD screen with loaded GPS and same quality audio ?
Trying to justify 2k for that... and the GPS is not much an attrative option for me.

I believe the SYNC NAV comes with the Shaker 500.

And by the way, its A LOT more than just a gps. It gets you gas prices, sports scores, pictures, 10GB hard drive, dvd's, bluetooth, and more....

check out www.syncmyride.com

add to that vehicle health report, news, weather, etc...

Thx buddy... Audio is more important for me than goodies, but if it is same as Shaker 500... hummm, I really dunno.
Still have at least a month to think about it...

no prob rick

I'm on the fence too, but i really love tech stuff so i think i'm leaning towards getting it. Also, you cant get the Shaker 1000 if you get the elec. pkg.

I guess I might just get Shaker 500... and update the speakers for better quality. The Shaker 1000 sub is nice too... but eats up lots of the trunk... does the NAV comes with a sub too ?

Decision, decision...

My '06 has the Shaker 1000, and if I were to do it over again, I would have just got the 500 and went after market.

The 1000 pounds pretty good for a stock system, but basically you are paying $1300 something for two crappy subs, a box and two 500 watt amps that fit in the palm of your hand.

Every review of the Shaker 1000 I've heard goes 100% with what redfire just said

Years ago I would never have gotten a factory navigation in a car. But now, with SYNC, Sirius TravelLink, an 8" screen, Hard drive for CD burning, storing of pictures from CD-Rs, reverse camera option, DVD Playback when in park, and the factory warranty for 3 years (only a year aftermarket) minimum, the price of it is MUCH MORE attractive! Plus, don't forget, you also get dual-zone climate control in the car when the navigation is ordered! Now they are worth it, IMHO. Whenever I go in the SHO I have here at work, the Nav screen/system is just IMPRESSIVE!!!

My real concern with the electronics package is the amount of distraction. I don't want to have to navigate a touch screen to turn down the a/c. All the goodies are cool, but I installed a full windows PC in a previous car and it got old. The functionality (nav, music, video, games, + OBDII connection to the car's ECU) never outweighed the inconvenience of using it. I'd rather just use Sync.

That's totally understandable. SYNC is worth it in EVERY car! As for the A/C? Its voice-activated climate control. You can say "Climate" and it asks for a command, you say "off" or decrease fan". And there are still climate buttons to push if you don't want to look at the screen. Its dual-purpose. But I get what your saying. These things in cars nowadays are VERY distracting. Heck, I drove a 535i one day, and iDrive was HORRID!!

i use the hard buttons for the climate, voice for the nav and a mix of voice, touchscreen, buttons for the audio depending on what i want to do. I love the system def superior to idrive and the infinity/nissan system from some the other cars i test drove.

Yes, as long as its a 2010 Mustang. Previous Mustangs, the Navigation wasn't nearly as intensive in regards to applications and functionality.

is the voice activated climate control only part of the electronics package with the nav system, or does that work with all sync systems?

I was thing to go on E-Bay and find a Shaker sub unit and somehow wire it in so I could have the nav and a sub. Any thoughts?

Go aftermarket and put the sub in the well of the now missing spare tire and save the trunk space.. That's what I'll be doing... Already have the gear in the garage. I'm doing it with one 10" DVC Rockford sub... 1000watt with a D class 1000 Watt monoblock. I still have to design the box, but expect it to give more thump and cleaner bass than the shaker 1000 in my '06 does...
All I need now is to find a way to put a back up cam in the system. I've got ideas of where to put it, not that I really need it...
