Nice Install. I love the car and the way you did the dash. Did you make the sub box or are you doing an infinite baffle?

Thank you! I'm very happy with the way the dash turned out. For the box, Its a sealed box built to fit by these guys: http://www.zenclosures.com/Mustang-S...angtype2ar.htm

Very Nice install!!
Did you have Sync in your car?

clucas Feb 14, 2015 09:17 AM

Love the install and how simple the trunk looks with that zen enclosure. Did you put anything on the power wire going to the battery to protect it? Any wire loom or expandable sleeping to prevent any damage to the wire jacket?

Thank You! No, I didn't have sync. Just the base 4 speaker stereo.

Thank you, I couldn't have asked for a better fit with the enclosure. Zen enclosures does a fantastic job. For the power wire. I've got the standard black plastic to put over it. Wire tied it along its path so it wont move. Other than that I think it should be ok. It doesn't pass by anything that would interfere with it. Its far enough from the engine that heat shouldn't be an issue either.

Good, I'm glad to hear you protected the wire. I just didn't see any in the photos.

Oh okay!! Its the same with me. I had tried to go a different route and I not very impressed with what I did.
Instead of having an actual amp powering I have got a power pack pushing four speakers :dunno:. And I still have the stock head unit which is awful. I eventually want to have 2 amps powering a Sub and 4 speakers. Not sure If I should still keep the stock head unit or go after market.

So when you went with after market head unit. Did you loose any functionality of the stock face plate and steering wheel?

I know its expensive, but go aftermarket. If you are wanting a sub its almost a must. You won't regret it. I'm not surprised you are disappointed by the power pack, those just don't do enough and you still have the problem of a weak signal from that awful stock HU. If you want to keep the stock headunit you can always get a processor. Even look at a nice 5ch amp to keep it down to just one amp.

What does a Processor do? Can you post a link of a product so that I can research further on this?
Also with after market head unit. Did you loose any functionality of the stock face plate and steering wheel? :poke:

Processor is almost a must if you want to keep the stock head unit and have good to great sound quality. Audio Control, JBL, JL Audio, Alpine all make great processors. Not cheap but neither is a new head unit and dash relo kit.

BTW nice job OP!

Well I didn't have steering wheel controls or anything extra to begin with. But if anything I gained functionality. The touchscreen is very easy to use, much easier than the stock controls IMO. Then the radio is all Bluetooth, so I gained quite a bit there. As far as steering wheel controls though, if you have them and want to keep them they make adapters for the wiring harness, so don't worry about that.

Here is an example of one of the processors

Thank you! Pretty pleased so far, could do with some more power though lol. Going to do the big three as soon as the wires come, then a bigger alt may be in store down the road.

Thanks. I was trying to keep it as OEM looking and unassuming as possible. Pretty happy with the end result.

Thank you. This is the dash kit:

As far as the tweeters go they are 1" dome and part of my component set. They are some old school soundstream exact 5.3s. They were soundstreams top of the line set in the late 90s beofre they got bought out by some over seas company.

tom281 Mar 11, 2015 08:47 AM

Old Soundstream rocks I sold it for years until about 98/99 then it went to the dump. I have two old Reference 700s amps that I'll be using in my build. I check eBay constantly for old Soundstream and old Orion HCCA equipment lol.
