Hurst shifter

Hey guys,

I installed my Hurst Shifter this afternoon and I absolutely love it. The reverse lockout thing isn't tht big of a deal. no different than other cars I've driven, it's a lot like my old e92 reverse shifting operation. It's nice and smooth, way shorter and tighter than stock, and I honestly think its one of the best mods I've done to my car. I absolutely love it. Plus it looks awesome!

I wasn't sure how to attach the shift boot retainer. Some people double up the boot and hide it, but I chose to wrap the boot around it underneath and secure it and leave it as a retainer that is visible. I don't think it makes. Difference. As far as noise and vibration goes, this thing doesn't seem any different than stock to me.

Good to know lol. I'll just leave it I think. This shifter is fabulous. I've never experienced the MGW but I can tell you this is wayyyy better than stock by far. I wish a shifter was one of the first things I did to the car.

Also, my bad for putting this in the interior section. Probably would have been better suited to the GT modification section.

Not everyone needs to get an MGW, but they should! Enjoy the Hurst, don't sweat the way the boot looks, glad you like the feel. We all know that's what counts the most.

As long as you have a Hurst, why not install a Hurst T handle for that classic muscle car look?

I've given it some thought. I love adding retro touches to the car. Ill have to take a look around and I might just have to get the t-handle

T-Handle is cool... but the look you have now is awesome!
I've heard such good things about the MGW but I think if I were to buy a new shifter, it'd definitely be the Hurst. I mean... Hurst. It's a Hurst. lol

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not trying to bash the hurst at all, but I'm glad I went with the MGW now that I've seen how the hurst fits the boot, just not the fit and finish I would like in my car. I love my MGW for its short throw and rock solid feel, plus the adjustability they give you in the 1-2 gate.

You really ought to give an MGW a feel, that's how I made my final decision.

I've read there is a nut that can be adjusted to give some resistance when going into reverse- did you adjust it or leave it as is?

I'm not that worried about accidentally hitting reverse, but my teenager and wife do occasionally drive the car, and the wife has managed to accidentally hit reverse once already...

I was thinking of getting the Barton Industries short throw and bracket, because they retain the lock-out (and I'm also not sure if the Hurst will still trigger the back-up camera... anyone know for sure?).

The shift **** looks very cool, btw.

I left it as is. It could be adjusted but I left it. It's been fine for me as is from the factory.

My hurst still triggers my reverse sensors and also my aftermarket back up camera with no modifications.
