GT500 shift boot

I'm debating on ordering one of these in the next day or so. I see partscheap has them for $38, but I'm debating on adding it to my 401A interior.

Thoughts?

I think it kinda looks cheap. I think I like the leather one better. Do you have the GT500 steering wheel to match it?

Adam Oct 14, 2010 08:56 AM

IMO it would require the steering wheel to properly tie in the alcantara. Shift boot alone might look a little odd.

Eventually plan to do the steering wheel as well, but I do like that this has the stitching that will match my seats.

Adam Oct 14, 2010 09:03 AM

Do it. Can't really go wrong for less than 40 bucks.

I think GT500 wheel and shift boot, along with the Boss 302 black shift knob, that's about it for my interior. Maybe the LS gauge package if it ever comes out as an accessory.

If you do can I have your 401a boot? :D

Then I recommend you get it and just not install it until you get the GT500 wheel

Overboost Oct 14, 2010 10:20 AM

I'm pretty sure I'll like it. I think I'll take a trip to the dealer tomorrow and see what they can do.

Hey Steve,

This link shows you how to open up your center console to install the boot. The vid is actually for changing the radio panels but its the same process

Thanks Jason. I'll definitely use that for the install.

No prob. What do you think about that faux carbon fiber look? I kinda like it, but the OEM is pretty good too.

I don't care for it, because it's very obvious that it's faux. I'd rather do the console in piano black treatment to break up the interior, or use the same pattern as the dash/airbag treatment.

stangfoeva Oct 14, 2010 10:40 AM

Yeah the piano black is nice, I have to agree. I've seen an aluminum one to match the dah/airbag on here before too.

I'm afraid to get one and then having it start creating rattles or something

Overboost Oct 14, 2010 10:52 AM

Just put the order in through my dealer, hopefully it's there tomorrow and installed tomorrow afternoon. I'll be sure to post pics when I'm done.

stangfoeva Oct 14, 2010 10:54 AM

:nice:

Shift boot won't arrive until Monday. Looks like I'll install it on Wed.
