Fuse blown with V1 hard wire to mirror. Anyone else?

I finally got the V1 wired to the rearview mirror. It turns on and off with no trouble and day 1 after the 3rd or 4th start up, I get an error message saying there is a Security Code. I googled and found someone that had the same problem when hardwiring to their mirror which caused Fuse #11 for the security module to blow. Sure enough, I checked it and Fuse #11 was blown. Anyone else experience this? Was this a glitch and/or should I continue to use the convenient wiring from the mirror?

I used the wiring from the maplights. The mirror wiring is a PITA since the motion module is in there. The detector will still come on and turn off automatically.

I used an escort direct wire smartcord and wired it into the passenger footwell fusebox.

Then put the smartcord control and mute button on the side of the center console near the parking brake, and ran the wire up the headliner to the detector.

Then used one of these mounts off the mirror: http://countryjoycrafts.com/Connecto...rDetector.html

It all works well, is secure without stupid suction cups, and comes on and off with the ignition.

Alright well I replaced the blown fuse, that erased the code, and it's been fine since. I'm happy.
