It doesn't seem to work on a 2013 GT500.

I agree when 1st got the car this made no since that the speedo was not displayed in the center. I wish Ford would do some kind of update to allow this to be an option without having to go into the system to program it.:banghead:

There were more than a couple things I found off that a Focus has yet a higher optioned Mustang or F150 didn't have for no obvious reason.

Yup, display of cruise control speed is another thing I couldn't figger, considering all the "infrastructure" is already there.

Re memory mode: I have that enabled, but it still requires several button pushes to get back to the same gauge I was displaying when I turned off the ignition. Minor I know, obviously I can live with it. Bottom line is the capabilities of the existing system are not fully utilized, and it's unnecessarily "awkward" in some operations IMO. ['13 V6]

Since I'm whinging: let's also put more space to the right of the "right arrow" in the "OK cluster". I can barely get a finger in there, and I'm small. Forget a thumb, which that button naturally wants to be pushed by if you're holding the wheel.

Can this be done in an 08 ?

geh4 Feb 20, 2013 06:29 PM

Does anyone know If you can do this in an 06?

Here's a fix for you.

1. Get a small post-it note
2. Write this phrase on it: "i'm in a GT500 going faster than everybody else"
3. Stick it on your speedo

Problem solved.
:nice:

You tell us!

youngstang90 Feb 21, 2013 05:51 PM

So I tried this in my '12 premium.....nothing. Is there something I'm missing?

It does, I just used it today. One thing I noticed - some people say you can start the car while holding OK for some model years. This doesn't work on a '13 GT500, you have to press and hold OK, rotate the key to "on" (but do not start), and keep holding until engineering mode comes up. Then you can start it and it will stay in that mode.

I tried every combination of buttons....nothing happens. (Info, setup, reset)

SwissGT Feb 23, 2013 07:19 AM

For pre-2013 cars, it should work as follows:

- Turn ignition OFF
- Press and hold "RESET" button
- Turn ignition to ON, or RUN
- "Engineering Test Mode" appears in the display
- Release "RESET" button
- Use "RESET" button to toggle through the items

Works in my 12 GT Premium.

Going outside right now to confirm. Will update shortly.

:update:
Doesn't work on mine. How long did you hold it for?

SwissGT Feb 23, 2013 04:28 PM

You need to hold Reset until "Engineering Test Mode" appears.
I'm not sure if this works on V6 models, however it would supreise me if it didnt.

I held it for about 5 seconds, then my check engine light started flashing. So I let go. As soon as I started the car it turned off though.

I did notice that most modern Fords have this feature. If you don't have OK on the steering wheel (e.g. '10 Mustang) use the reset button instead. Gonna try this on the wife's Escape.

Hi outtaphase,

This is a setting we have in place for our technicians to run tests and such when your vehicle is brought in for a concern. I see most of you would like this digital speedometer to be an option, make sure you provide us with your feedback at Ford Social.

Why haven't the companies that make tuners started modding the LCD? Obviously if they're tapping into core electronics this won't be a problem.

jim010 Feb 26, 2013 10:14 AM

I'm still am having no luck with this in my 2012 GT

Overboost Feb 26, 2013 10:24 AM

For those of you with 2010-2012 cars, to get into the test mode:

-Hold "Setup" and "Reset" buttons under the headlamp switch
-Start vehicle
-Use the "Reset" button to cycle through the various functions

Mode will be active until the car is shut off.
