Enable RDS on Mustang 2011 Shaker 500?
Hello Ladies (any?) and Gentlemen !
I'm from Switzerland and I'm an owner of the brand new Mustang 2011 V6 305HP Club of America edition!
I have a problem with the shaker 500 (if it's really the shaker 500 on my model), I cannot enable the RDS (it's a system to see the name of the FM radio).
I read here that on the 2005 you only have to push the menu button for 2-3 seconds: https://themustangsource.com/f692/en...-radio-408631/
...but it doesn't work
Could anyone help me?
And sorry for my bad english

From the 2011 Owner's Manual:
RDS Radio
Available only in FM mode. This feature allows you to search
RDS-equipped stations for a certain category of music format: CLASSIC,
COUNTRY, JAZZ/RB, ROCK, etc.
To activate: Press MENU repeatedly until RDS (ON/OFF) appears in the
display. Use SEEK to switch RDS ON and OFF. When RDS is
OFF, you will not be able to search for RDS equipped stations or view
the station name or type

I have the exact same problem on my '11 GT with Shaker 500, also in Switzerland.
No chance of turning on RDS following the instructions in the manual. Is the RDS signal different in America, and therefore not detected in Europe?
Still haven't given up though, since connecting to a USB device was also a bit different than stated in the manual. So I'm still hoping that there is some secret way of turning it on :-)

I get the feeling that the European and USA RDS formats are slightly different and might not be compatable. (just a quick skim of the following technical article)

Yes, RDS is different in USA and Europe! (In Europe, RDS can switch de FM frequency to anotherone automatically if the same radio has an other channel with a better signal!)
But if we can switch on the RDS on a Mustang in Europe, we could at least see the name of the radio!
So the point is not the difference of the RDS, but where is this **** RDS ON OFF menu....

I also noticed the exact same problem in my 2012 GT. too bad this isn't working over here. well at least we can still use the sync system/voice commands. even though I kind of I got the impression so far that the system is not used to my swiss accent yet
My car is in the UK. The RDS in my 2011 5.0 works but gives station names in text only. It does not automaticaly shift to the strongest frequency which makes it a bit pointless, furthermore TP (Traffic plan does not work either). The menu on off function works as mentioned above.
I mainly use a USB stick to listen to music through the brilliant SYNC system so the RDS issue does not bother me too much, however this Shaker radio is better than the 2005-9 models in that it does at least pick up odd and even FM frequencies.
A new consol is becoming available soon to make head unit replacement easier and so you could fit a European spec head unit.

RDS is turned off by default, but I managed to enable it just today: The option is called 'RBDS ON/OFF', and it seems to work.
Mine is an US spec car (receives odd frequencies only), but RDS works just fine over here. Station names and program types showed up instantly for the stations I tested.
