Does your Mustang get hot...inside?

Hello Everyone!

I've just become the owner of Mustang since May, and looking forward to be part of this great community.

It has been quite a ride since that day, everything about Mustang was new to me that it will take months to get used to its mechanics and finally being able to drive comfortably lol

Lately, I've been noticing fair amount of heat inside the car and it's starting to annoy me. I suspect the heat coming from underneath the steering wheel making my knees feel warm forcing me to turn a/c on everytime.

The Front windshield fogs up quite often, even on Sunny Days when no one else has it. The fog will also come and go when driving, I can literally see them steaming up & disappear.

The thing is, I've never driven a car this hot and I ask for help here because I hear quite a few mustangs get warm inside (and they say it's normal for mustang)

Could this be just a 'Mustang thing' I have to learn to deal with or is there something seriously wrong with my brand new 2013 5.0?

I have no issues at all with heat or fog. Go see your dealer, maybe you have some missing insulation?

I don't get the fog. But, I do notice when getting back in after a drive and a quick stop out if the car it seems a but heat soaked in front around the dash area. I'm figuring its due to the hood coming all the way back to the windshield. Whereas I'm used to my Foxes that had a full open cowl that let that heat out.

Run it set to defrost on those types of days where you don't need the AC, but want to prevent the windshield from steaming up on you.

Just get some RAIN-EX anti fog and put it on the inside of your windshield. That will help prevent it from fogging up.

Thank you all for reply,

I actually went to dealer last Oct, they admitted it does get warm inside but wouldn't take it seriously unless it's something big (like car won't start or cannot shift...etc).

The issue here is the HEAT, too much heat that's not suppose to be. I grew up in Chicago area, the weather conditions can trigger such but I fear the problem is something different here. Especially the inside warming.

Sure, I can try to defrost everytime it fogs up or the RAIN-EX might do the trick but why. We're talking brand new car, even before the first oil change.

(Andrea),
I want to contact Ford Directly to address the issue, and I'd appreciate your advice in this regards. What can be done?

Wow those look pretty bad. Mine doesn't do this. It does get hot inside with the heat on and I try hard to find a good medium but it's difficult. I'll get used to it over time I guess

Wow...my heat works great. But never noticed that. Might be a leak in the system somewhere causing moisture in the system.

So I got my first oil change yesterday and it was fogging up pretty bad (becomes more apparent on rainy days). Seeing is beliving, the mechanic was finally convienced to contact Ford about the issue - they couldn't duplicate the problem last time - although he was still confused/amused how or what could cause the fog... We'll have to see how this goes.

so it's normal for mustang to get warm inside then? we're talking about 10-15min local drive, not some after 100-ish miles long distance.

No my car doesn't get warm unless the heat is on...however the vent does remain open even if you turn your system off. Pretty annoying but if I remember correctly you can turn the vent off before turning the system off and you won't get any outside air

I'm afraid this 'heat' isn't coming from the vent, more likely from the center console, and from the dashboard or underneath where the pedals are. I can also feel a little bit of warmth where the electronic controls are (navigation, cd inserts..etc) It's hard to pin-point exactly...

The mechanic told me nothing is leaking, if such as the heat-sink(or pipe?) thingy was bad or something is leaking then you would notice 'strong' odor but no.

I went to another dealership for second opinion. We took a test drive, he told me "yeah it gets warm. in fact, my daughter has a Mustang and she sometimes drives it with her bare foot because it's hot inside."

Are you guys sure you don't notice any warmth in your Mustang...?

Driving barefoot is where it's at

My S2K get pretty warm around the transmission tunnel, so I just consider it part of owning a sports car.
