Audio Idiot!

I don't know crap about car audio other than what I like to hear. I want to uprade my speakers on my 2012 GT/CS that has the base stereo. These are the speakers that I am thinking about. Does anyone have these, what are your opinions? I sure that I will have to add an amp as well, any suggestions?

They're not bad, definitely an upgrade over stock. For an extra $30 I would probably look at these, other people on the forum seem to really like them (and I like them for coaxials):

There are a ton of options on speakers and amps, you can go as crazy as you like. You can run these speakers off of your stock head unit, but any speakers will sound better with an aftermarket amp on them.

With just a quick sale search on Crutchfield, this looks like a decent start:

You can bridge it and send great power to your front speakers, or add rear speakers and power all four.

You can spend a lot more money and get a lot better sound, but this is probably a good start for a casual listener who just wants better sound for a good price.

Just my opinion, I'm others will have good advice too.

I upgraded the speakers only to the infinity kappas and they are very nice. it's been a month and the sounds is total night and day. I don't listen to music often enough to upgrade the amp (I like the natural music coming from the engine more).

Thanks guys!

Xar, did you use the ones zbrew listed. Crutchfield says they fit the fronts nothing about the rears. Don't see why they would not fit seeing that the door and deck speakers are the same size.

I have the exact same speakers in mine front and back. They are a huge improvement over the stock speakers and have much better highs and midrange presence. The external crossover dongle is a little bit of a pain to fit under the door panel, but it's not terrible. I cable tied mine right under the speaker and wrapped them in foam tape to make sure they didn't rattle. The tweeters swivel around so you can aim them to move the soundstage higher.

Check ebay for the Kappas. You can get 4 of them for what 2 cost on Crutchfield, and the adapter pigtails are only a few bucks a pair.

I think you'll like them. They are very efficient speakers and are actually quite loud and clear with just the factory amp. That's why I got them. I really didn't want to get into a bunch of work with amps and subs on a brand new car, but that lasted about a month. I've got 2 grand worth of audio stuff sitting in my living room ready to install. LOL

^ thats what i'm looking for. Didn't want to spend a ton of money . I have too much going into my overdue house remodel.

Infinity makes a very good speaker. I used a set of them in my Audi A4 and loved them. If other folks look at this thread after, I also like these.

A little cheaper and I think the overall sound quality is on par with the Kappas.

Those are what I will be running in mine, after listening to about 12 or so Speaker set ups I kept going back to those, to my ears they sounded the best.

I did use the ones listed, got them from amazon for $74 for the pair.

I didn't replace rear speakers, just left them as is.

amazon still has them cheap :

I got the clear sound I was looking for.

Thanks for the help!

On this page you link to they say there is the new model of this speaker available for 30 bucks less however it then says will not fit 2011 and newer mustangs. Someone with a 2011 gave a review on them so I'm wondering if the seller just made a mistake and did not list the newer years.

Should I try the new one or just stick with the one's you guys used?

Oh also do you use an adapter?

ETA: okay never mind about the other speaker I see its the reference and not as good. I will order the kappa with an adapter
