Update: All is working except for my door subs...Has aftermarket Kenwood, where do I get the sub signal from? Is it the 4 pin connector? How do I test to see if its producing signal..Reason I ask, seems like my subs should work since the original unit amplified the four speakers and the subs had their own amp, (under dash) shouldn't it work?

Preparing to update my nav map now that the OEM swap is complete. Given that it takes hours for the install, would I be fine to throw the car on my winter battery maintainer (Deltran Battery Tender)? I have a portable battery jump starter but I am not certain it would be appropriate to hook it up for hours.

Any experience or advice is appreciated. Thanks!

If you don’t mind me asking...where did you get the NAV updates?

I don’t mind at all. The link below will take you to the options that Ford provides.

https://ford.navigation.com/home/en_US/FordNA/USD

Like all nav/map updates from any other manufacture, they are very overpriced, but given that the navigation system is ‘new to me’ I want to the most recent map and GraceNote database.

My total w tax and shipping was $163

A bit pricey, but my maps were over 6 years old..one day going to work, just happen to look down and I was going off road.. the road change about 6 years ago. Now all good. Also, got my splash screen changed...

Harness question

I’ve been collecting all the parts for the install for a while now and I am almost ready. But I have a question for the dash harness. I have a 2014 gt premium with heated seats. The harness I have is a pull out from a 2014 gt manual. The part number is er3t-14401-KA. I’ve heard that I might need the one ending in KC instead. Can anyone help clarify this?

The Sun load Sensor.

7L1Z-13A018-A I assume was the one you had before, and needed the DG9Z13A018A.

Does anyone know if the DG9Z13A018A will still plug into a old
7L1Z-13A018-A harness?

Looking to purchase parts piece by piece starting soon...anyone in Eastern NC with experience? I’ve lurked this post for a few years now, and the job has kept me away for a while. Real novice when it comes to kidding, especially wiring, haha. 2011 GT, base...college grad gift to myself thinking just the engine would be enough, now it isn’t...and who knows when i’ll be able to pick up my own GT500!

Having gps issues? May be antenna

I did the gps oem install and was getting no gps but sirrus radio worked fine. I drove around and would get signal but most of the time no gps. Replaced antenna and now i get perfect gps. You can check gps sats by foing to maps and holding 3&6 to go into test mode. You will see how many sats you are getting. Prior to replacing antenna i would get 1-3 sats in driveway, now i get six.

I have a question I just got almost all the components I need to do the swap is their a way that I can hook power to the dash harness and test the radio and display to make sure it is working correctly? If so what is the main power wires in the dash harness that I could use.

Just finished my install today and all things considered it was pretty easy. Took about 6 hrs total but love the new look. How do you upload new background images and now ill need to update the maps, which should be fun. My car is a 2013 premium gt.

I did try asking dealers but they all say this install can’t be done and are no help. I tried looking up part numbers but the part sites show everything under the same number so I’m not sure if they eventually made it one general harness or if there are 3 or 4 different ones.

I have a 2012 mustang, and I'm looking at a harness from a 14 mustang Does anyone know if I can just repin/cut and splice and make it work, or do I HAVE TO get a harness out of a 2012 ?

Dimitar, anything is possible if you repin, but it may be more than you want to bargin with. I have a 2012, I got a 2012 harness and had to repin/rewire the speakers due to the nav for my year ran the speaker wires to the rear where the non-nav ran them somewhere else. It was an easy mod though.

Im not sure you need to since my unit pulled the correct vin from my car automatically a couple days after I did the install
