$30 Automatic Headlight Upgrade

Automatic headlights are $30 away from any base model 2011 mustang. All you have to do is buy the part SW6659 for around $20-30 and plug it in and you know have automatic headlights. In my opinion a necessary upgrade considering the ease and price.

Its a position on the light switch that turns the lights on and off automatically based on a light sensor.

Do the base models have the light sensor on the top of the dash? I've never paid attention.

I have the auto headlights on my GT Premium, but I never use them. They are way too sensitive. They go on under every underpass, and shut off quickly. It must be annoying to other drivers in front of me, considering I go under about 20 on my commute each way every day.

Yes. Swapping switches gives you Auto Lamp on a base car. But the computer doesn't know it so you can't adjust the delay time for turning off. It defaults to 20 seconds.

The 2011 base model comes with auto headlights... $30 not required.

Thats news to me. And thats total crap. They should not have cut that option out. It's even standard on most if not all econoboxes.

I would not have purchased my car if it did not have it as I have come to rely on it.

Why... Are you unable to tell when it's dark enough to need headlights?

My base '11 GT has 'em, but I can't imagine why anyone would use them. Oh, well, different strokes...

Let me get this straight. You would not buy a Mustang if you had to pay another $20 for a different switch and take 4 minutes to install it? Your brand loyalty is overwhelming!

I read that and thought the same thing. Seems a bit misguided...

I can see when its dark... But it is much easier to set them and forget them.

At the time I bought it, I did not know the switch & sensor were available, so no, I would not have bought it. My econobox had them, why not a stang???

I am not loyal to Ford. But I do prefer GM or Ford, and Ford has the better pony car right now.

And for the record, the post above states $30

This is one of the features that I have learned that I really want.

It's all about the convenience, such as lights on when wipers are on. And I suppose that your daugher and I would get along well.

And the battery never dies when you leave the lights on...

Say what you guys want, I stand by my word. If I had not been able to get the auto headlights, I would not have bought my stang. I would have kept my old car which was way better on gas and was paid for.

I love auto headlights. I can remember to turn the headlights on and off but this is just easier. Why do it myself when the car will do it for me? It's as simple as that.

Ditto. It doesn't make or break the car for me but it's just a nice little extra feature that I sure do appreciate.

I installed the switch to get the fog light stuff, but don't use the auto-lights feature. In fact, I've had the car for two months, and have only used the headlights 3 times, and one of those times was simply to test the fog light/wiring install.
