2014 Radio display swap?

So I have viewed the fourms and from what I have read people that get their radio display replaced by ford have 2 extra lines and on start up the radio flashes the word mustang for a few seconds. Now I have a 2012 mustang with the 2013 gauge cluster that boots up with "Mustang" on the lcd and I think it would be fantastic to buy one of these of ebay from a 2014 and put it in my car. Does anyone know If I will only need the display, or will I have to break out my VCM-II tool and load up as-built for the ACM? Right now I have a 2012 mustang premium head unit in but if I need to I can load up 2014 As-Built.

I had the same problem when the factory replaced my display unit on a 2013 Mustang

I thought I was going to have to live with it.

I took it back to the dealer for an air conditioning issue. The AC switch issue was fixed by the dealer with a reprogram of the car.

After the re-programming for the AC, the new display went back to the way it was when new.

My daughter had her display replaced under warranty with the same lines. I took it back for her and they replaced and re-programmed under warranty.

I think that the Ford Dealer should have done the programming when they installed the new display the first time but either didnt know to do it or didnt think it was worth the effort since the display did at least work.

If you want the lines gone, make sure you take it into the dealer while your car is still under warranty or see if you can get a reasonable quote to re-program the car afterward.
