2010+ Illuminated Engine Start Button
 

We've been working on these on and off for a while inbetween other projects, but we're finally ready to release them for everyone!

The door is a Tru-Billet replacement for the stock plastic door in the center console area, and it is available in Brushed Silver, Gloss Black, or Triple Chrome. Engraving options include plain, SHR Logo, or GT logo. The black one shown is a prototype, we'll have pictures of the production ones where the engraving is done afterwards (giving the engraving a silver color contrast) up later today or over the weekend.

Button is illuminated, and can be ordered in red or blue. It can be wired to either work with the key & emergency brake to come on and off (preferred) or it can be wired constant on, although this would be somewhat annoying at night on a street car.

Install takes a couple hours for a first timer, mostly because the passenger airbag needs to be removed to access the screws holding the center air duct in place... why they had to do that is beyond us, but it's not hard, just takes a few minutes once you are comfortable with unbolting / disconnecting it. As usual, full instructions will be included.

Concealed display.:D

I couldn't get it to stay in, and it was just annoying to look at anyway. So once we started testing of this kit, I didn't have a choice, since the coiled power cable doesn't go well into the center console pocket, and I hate running exposed wires anyway.

Also, somewhat related... I am very happy with the blendmount we purchased for our car - might even start offering them on our site, as I think they are a nice product. Well worth the cost IMO.

I'm borrowing my roommates. I need to buy a V1, but I agree, the power supply doesn't really fit in there. Any time I get a good bump, the whole thing cycles. I really want a blendmount and a hardwire. Maybe a concealed display, but my tint's fairly dark to begin with.

The concealed display is good to keep eyes from behind looking in on you, especially at night when it becomes obvious. The problem - I drove for so many years without one, that when I now get an alert, I automatically look up and to my right, even though the display is down and to the center... something I'll just have to retrain on I guess :)

what happens if you push the button while the car is running?

One of two things.. Nothing, or:

The same thing that happens if you turn the key twice - the gauges get stupid for a second as they reset, but nothing "earth shattering" like the starter re-engaging or anything like that. Yes, we do the destructive testing for you so you don't have to :)

I would've been willing to bet nothing happened; Ford engineers were smart enough to disable the trunk button while the car was moving (ask me how I found this out). Logic would dictate that they would've also disabled the starter when the engine was running.

It actually helps them reduce warranty and liability claims... and since it's all in the software now anyway because of the SJB and integrated PCM etc.. it makes no difference from a cost-analysis on the beancounting side to not include it as a "feature". Win-win in their world, and in this particular case, even for the customer.

If that black one has the "GT" lettering done in silver with the blue button count me in!!!

Does this maintain the feature where you dont have to hold the key for the engine to finish cranking? Can you just push the button and let go and the car will finish starting?

We'll have you covered soon enough. :) Actually our original design, which was more complex didn't work with the button, but it will work for owners not looking to have a start button and retain use of the power outlet.

That's how they are shipping. Production pictures... they have been on our website since release last week. We just don't have photos installed of the production pieces, ran out of test cars in our neighborhood :)
Yes, on 2011+ cars that have the feature, it is retained.
