Hey guys. I know this isn't the proper place for a "which is better" type of thread. But I've found 2 local deals and was wondering if the more knowledge people can smack some sense into my head and talk me out of (or talk me into) spending money. I've trashed one 19" rim already, and blown a tire on one other rim. Bad luck I guess. So I'm on winter steelies right now, but looking to get some new rims for summer. I've always been a fan of the 20" look. Wanting to lower the car on air ride suspension, but that's not necessary right now. The car handles fine to me, because I'm too ignorant to know any better. I haven't ridden in a well handling car in a while. And I don't track or auto-cross, and afraid that with a static setup, as awesome as they might be, might get trashed on potholes/speedbumps/driveways. So, I'm torn between 20" wheels. Or 18" or 19" wheels but as wide as possible in the rear. I like the look and the added traction the wider tire will give me. So of these two options: which will you guys decide?

STR Racing wheels. Staggered 20x10.5 rear 20x9 front brand new, still in boxes. machine finish. Wheels only, no tires. $1200
(Pictures 1,2, & 3)

Or

Wheels are 19x8.5 +25mm, and 19x10 +25mm. They should fit 1994-2004 Mustangs, 350z's 370z's, g35 amd g37. They may fit the genesis as well.

Tires are Michelin PS2's, 95% tread remaining. 3 of the 4 wheels are 10/10, the other is a 9/10 and has a small blem from dropping a wheel nut on it.

Tire size is 255/40/19 on the front and 325/30/19 on the rear. Excellent grip in all summer conditions. $2,600
(Pictures 4-7)

I assume with option 1 plus tires, it would probably cost the same as option 2.

Would option 2 even fit? I do enjoy the black look as I kinda had a black and blue theme with the mustang.
Thanks so much for reading my long winded posts guys! You are the best group out there.

Regards,
Joey.K

I couldn't resist posting in this thread. Always love showing off my Mustang. Boss 338s 20x8.5 up front and 20x10 in the rear. Now I just need to lower it but I used up my Mustang funds for a while.

Gabe...how long have you been running the 19x10 AMRs up front? What size tires are you running? Any clearance issues or rubbing?

I've got about 2500 miles on them now, with no issues whatsoever.

I did end up adding some spacers on the front, approx 1/4" thick, just to bring the wheels out more flush a bit.
Had no issues before the spacers though.

I'm running 275/40/19 Hankooks in the front.

Thanks Gabe, they look great btw! Good to hear that you've had no issues especially since 275s are what I'm looking at. I want to do a square setup so I can rotate them.

Now the only question is charcoal vs black? I wish they made a flat/matte black, I'm not sure if I like the gloss black but I'm not sure if charcoal will be dark enough against my Gotta Have it Green

Show me your 20" wheels!

Centerline MM1s, custom powder coat, 20x9 +35 and 20x10.5 +40 (do yourself a favor and get the +45 rears to avoid rubbing).

Sorry for the newbie question: These "Drift Racing" 20 inch wheels actually convinced my wife that I should buy the 2011 Mustang convertible attached to them, but I can't find any info about them on the web. Perhaps I'm just not searching for the right keywords. Any ideas? I'm also curious about the tires - mainly how much they would cost when I eventually need to replace them.
