My j&m lca's lasted 2 weeks before the bushings were shredded to pieces.

That's good to know now lol. I knew I should have trusted my instincts. I asked A represenative from AM about some concerns I had about them and they assured me they would be just fine. Do you know what may have caused it?

You can check out the following article we did on the LCA's ... gives some pretty good insight:

Man, that's a bummer. I have J&M LCA's and no issues as of yet for me. Knock on wood. :) what kind of power is your pony making?

Nice article. Well I guess I will take a chance and see how the J&M's perform. Fingers Crossed........

When you install your LCA's just make sure you use plenty of grease on the bearings. It comes with three tubes of grease and loop them up good.

You might have some clunking with that UCA. Personally I would have gone with the BMR UCA and mount but that is me lol.

This was a post made by Kelly at BMR about UCA

It all seems pretty simple to me. This is because we engineer all of our components individually, to work with OEM parts.

That said; the 2005-2010 Mustang uses a 14mm UCA to Mount bolt. The 2005-2010 UCA is also 1" shorter, than the 2011+ UCA. Due to this, the mounting position on the 2011+ UCA Mount is also 1" further forward.

Here are some pictures to show the difference. These are BMR Components, UCA/Mount specific to 2005-2010 and BMR UCA/Mount specific to 2011+:

(The 2011+ Pieces are the pieces that appear "beefier") and have larger hardware/holes.

That said, here is a shot showing the 05-10 and 11+ OEM Pieces:

http://i455.photobucket.com/albums/q...107_104808.jpg

Here is why most aftermarket UCA will clunk when installed in an OEM Mount:

http://i455.photobucket.com/albums/q...209_104746.jpg

Here is why it does not clunk with an aftermarket mount:

http://i455.photobucket.com/albums/q...209_104605.jpg

And here is why the clunking is not so prevalent/common with OEM pieces, even though the tolerance is sloppy - they are designed to not clunk via:

http://i455.photobucket.com/albums/q...210_155232.jpg

As you can tell, the OEM engineering did not work well for us. We started getting a clunk at 450 miles on our car, due to the OEM Sleeve design not quite "holding on" for us.

The simple part is, MOST companies simply retained features from the 2005-2010 Style UCA....while we were engineering our parts to be specific for the 2011+ UCA System Change.

The Steeda UCA MOUNT appears to still retain the 14mm through bolt, so, a 2011+ UCA will not work. A 2011+ UCA WILL work on our 2011+ Specific UCA Mount.

I also suspect this is why Mr. Fair had issues with his previous design UCA Systems. He claimed the factory '11 has a 14mm bolt, IIRC, in his blog....but that is simply not true. Somehow he ran into some incompatibility issues with the components he chose to run - and I feel his opinion of aftermarket pieces is slightly flawed due to this - as our parts fit like a glove.

Hope that helps!

I'm not sure what my power levels were, but I had a lot I hard launches in that car in the first two weeks. I ended up replacing them with billet steeda ones and haven't had an issue yet. The j&m bushing was so destroyed that steeda asked if they could keep the failed bushing for comparison.

Wow. Just curious did you ever contact J&M about the failed bushings? I think J&M give a lifetime warranty on the bushings. I recall reading that on AM of the product description.

You guys are making me regret this purchase.....

I didn't contact them because my car was pulling so hard to the right that I drove it to steeda the same day to get it fixed. I actually took it to them because I thought I needed an alignment and they discovered the lca bushing.

The j&m lca looks nice, and they do have a lifetime warranty on the bushings, which is why I got them. But I couldn't wait around for another bushing because it was pretty dangerous driving my car like that.

Your fine. They are good for the money. No bushing will last forever.

I got ya. I'm wondering if during your original J&M installation the bearings and ends of the control arms did not have enough grease put on them which caused the bushings too fail. Just wondering if that's what caused them to fail after two weeks.

I wonder how long a typical pair of bushings will last for?

It could be. I used all of the supplied grease, but maybe it wasn't enough.

Where can you buy the grease?

I would think the three tubes were more than plenty of grease. Those bushings must of just come faulty from the manufacture. How many of your bushings failed?
