Question about engine cover?

I just purchased my Mustang v6 last month and I just noticed it doesn't have an engine cover, is it supposed too?

It's part of the Performance Package.

You should be able to buy an OEM cover from Ford Parts, or I'm sure a bunch of other retailers.

Thanks for the replies, I like the cover but I wouldn't pay extra money for it. Now a strut tower brace is on my list.

I bought one from Late Model Restoration. I like it a lot. Gives the engine bay a nice bump in appearance.

I never got one on my automatic v6. Dealer said it was a manual package thing and now that I know other autos have it, I'm a little peeved they didn't give me one for free after I brought it up to them. Cleans the engine up nicely but not worth $150 extra.

Keeps that heat trapped beneath it though. There's always a trade off.

Does this piece have to be modified for an automatic?

Auto Nation has it for under 100 bucks, I believe.

and it hides your engine. Why would you want to hide your engine?

Nope. Installs in a couple minutes.

There isn't much on the side it covers. I think it actually balances out the engine bay nicely and gives the bay a big appearance boost.

Da**ed if I know. Just gets in the way when you have to pull maintenance too. To each his own though.

It will need to be trimmed for the second line off the intake.

Because of this thread I bought one on ebay for $135. I was looking for a relatively cheap mod and I alternate between performance and appearance mods. I ordered the strut tower brace for $99 so I decided on the engine cover. It will make it that much nicer when I go to car shows :)

I wish someone like american muscle would start manufacturing an intake manifold and engine cover like the 5.0 for the v6 just take away two of the 8 and bam go yourself a v6 cover that looks like a 5.0 I would be willing to pay up to $500 for that!

It finally came in and it took all but maybe 3 min to install. Definitely cleans up the engine bay and looks great. I'm very pleased with it. Some before and after.

Looks great, definitely need one!

Rodsmustang Sep 16, 2014 06:12 PM
