Which gas to use?

Does anyone run premium gas in their V6? I only plan on driving my 2014 SGM about 2000-3000 miles a year and I've been debating on what to fuel her with....thanks for the input!

I've had mine for nearly two years and have 28,500 miles on her - all on regular. I don't see any point in spending the additional money for premium. If I had wanted more power I'd have bought a GT.

With that little usage, be sure to put gas stabilizer in it religiously. I double up on my pace car. It only gets about 300-400 miles per year on it.

Thanks for the heads up.....she won't move much until March/April if the snow is still around. I do love driving it though!

After you put the stabilizer in, make sure you run it for a few minutes to mix the stabilizer up and run it through the fuel lines and injectors. Knock on wood but I have had no issues with my '99 Trans Am and have been running stabil in it for years to prevent any such trouble. I had a tank of gas in the car for over a year one time, 93/E10 ethanol.

I only have about 4,400 on my 14 V6. Living in the Midwest, I don't drive it in the winter unless the streets are pretty clean. I filled my car with premium about 3 weeks ago because gas prices are down so low. I have only drove it a couple of times but it seems to have more power and response. I plan to keep putting premium in her.

Thanks.....I am finding that most people do feel a difference. She won't move much now until the Spring. I have a feeling that I may switch at that time.

American Muscle dynoed a stock V6 with regular then Premium and there was a 7 or 8 HP bump just changing the gas.

I always fill it with 93. Can't say I've ever tried to feel a difference between 87 and 93 but I've been filling it up with the premium ever since I bought it. I'm sure if I looked hard enough I could find the article, but apparently our engines are able to capitalize on the higher octane fuel. Lastly if you do the math, you figure premium is roughly 50 cents more then 87. So assuming you're on E, .50 x 14 gal tank ( give or take ) is $7. $7 x 12 is $84. $84 extra a year for premium. Worth it if you ask me.

I use 'name brand' (EXxon, Bp etc.) 93 octane because of my tunes. I think 91 octane is 'Preminum' to Ford because thats the higest octane a lot of states have........and like Ken said, we do get 7-8 more horsepower when using preminum gas.

The 2011 GT has 400 horsepower on 87 octane but has 412 with preminum. Just saying.......

With fuel being lower than it was, I'm running only premium unleaded. It's nice having a little insurance when bringing the RPM's up to 7000. I don't do it much but every once in a while. Also, I can feel the difference when running premium. Fuel prices may not last forever, take advantage while you can.

The improvement with using premium fuel in my V6 is small but worth it.
Nice to know it will perform just fine on regular. Alot of cars out there don't have that option.
