You'll get oversteer and I experienced it on my first track day in the Boss on a square 18 x 9.5 setup. A lot of fun steering with the throttle, but not faster around the track. Fortunately I had a staggered set with me as well. If you stiffen the front or soften the rear using adjustable swaybars you can dial it out.

Interesting, why does a square setup cause oversteer?

If you narrow the rear wheel/tire, you'll bias toward oversteer. The opposite would be true if you widened it. The suspension is setup neutral from the factory with a staggered wheel/tire front to back, the back being wider. If you squared it up you'd either be widening the front wheel/tire or narrowing the rear wheel/tire, both of which will create more oversteer.

My final conclusion is to use TSW/Nurburgring in 19/8.5 front, 19/9.5 rear. Tires, Nitto NT05, front 245/40/19, rear 275/35/19. Same diameter as stock, same stagger, 1/4 inch narrower track, neutral handling with much better traction.

I wouldnt go as far as saying FAR better traction. Less contact patch and the nt05 are a 200 treadwear medium grade tire. I would go 9.5 square with 265 35 19 re-11's and blow right by you.

Decided to wait till I can afford extra set wheels/tires, TSW 20 inch wheels, and Toyo R888 Tires, or 18 inch wheel/tire. In the meantime, an Airaid CAI #453-174 for Boss 302, adds 20 h.p. and works really well on my car.

Tomorrow will have Airaid carbon fiber CAI installed, part # 453-174, +19 hp, 20 fp torque. Strong at high rpm, 6000-7500 rpm.

I would buy a CAI system if it increased the area of the OEM intake box/intake tube that sucks in the outside air, all of the systems out there seem to miss this "upgrade".

Like this? Been looking at the WMS for awhile, but need more info and havent seen too many folks running it.

http://www.wmsracing.com/wmsweb/HVI1...100mm-maf.html

Am I crazy or does searching Whiteline on AM not return results today? I have some things in my cart, so they havent cut them as a vendor or anything, I dont think, but I cant pull up any of their stuff. Weird.

Something alone those lines, though I don't want people thinking I did an LS swap.

Thanks for the lesson, I guess I can see how a wider tire in the front could cause oversteer.

That IS weird! the items are there but searching brand name doesnt appear to be working right now, try just going directly to the product catagories and you will see the items.

That's about the same hp increase as your k&n filter I thought, why the switch?

Installed Airaid CAI#453-174. This is for Boss 302 only. It has larger diameter tube and bigger filter, and is designed for Trackey, not an aftermarket tune. Sound tube is eliminated, also. It's carbon fiber, and cost $599.99. The power/torque increase is not "dramatic", but it is noticeable. I suspect it's more than the claimed 19 h.p. Might be 30 or more. It's really strong at 6000 rpm-7500 rpm. IMO, best CAI for a Boss 302. Took 30 minutes to install, all parts were in box.

I have that same intake but I never read anything stating that it is designed for Trackey.

Parnelli Jones garage/race team designed this CAI for Airaid, to run with Ford Racing's Trackey, not aftermarket program.

PJ had nothing to do with the design of this intake. It was designed at the Airaid facility using a privately owned Boss 302 from a guy that lives in the area. While it does work with TK it was not designed to do so. The insert was designed to allow the intake with the stock tune and TK wasn't even released when Airaid designed the intake. And yes I have one of the PJ signed intakes on my Boss.

Today I disconnected negative terminal on battery for 30 minutes. This forces the trackey to re-program on the new CAI, and it now idles and runs better. Don't know why this works, but it does. Tip from Boss owner/friend.
