Whats your redline
For those that raised their rev limit on a stock bottom end GT motor(not Boss) what did you raise it to and how is reliability? Curious to know how well these coyotes without forged internals deal with high revs over long term.

I have a friend with a 2011 GT I believe it is that is up to around 15,000 track miles (road course) and at least a couple thousand of those are revving up to or past 7500. Believe he currently revs to 7800 with the CJ intake

If you add an aftermarket tune does that change your rev limit? I would think a stock 11-14 GT would be out of breath by around 7,200 RPM? and over that you would be just going down the back side of the power band? Is the stock GT 5.0 set up real conservative on the max rev limit?

It can change your redline, usually optional. Based on the dyno's I have seen dropping off around 7200 sounds about right. I think what your getting at is why anyone would raise redline above that 7200 threshold?
Primarily to stretch gearing is my assumption. Even tough your on the decline from a power perspective the time spent grabbing the next gear might actually be less desirable then letting the engine rev higher to eeek out a few more MPH out of a gear.
Is the stock redline for a GT conservative...I think the answer is probably yes. But like most things that is up for debate. Do you want an engine to last longer or perform to it's max potential?

yeah i already did, we ran out of injector at 6650 with the 47's and 82mm so i got a set of ID 1000's. Dont even need a BAP and made 622whp SAE. I just bought a JMS V2 20 volt BAP so we could tune it for E85 i cant wait to see the results. Im still on stock everything motor wise. I asked Shaun about should i consider changing the OPG and he said it would not be necessary. Said bouncing it off a limiter would do more harm than actual RPM. Also talked to a couple guys that have done the same as i am and their cars lived a very long life until they eventually upgraded on their own to run more power not because of failure. Tune and fuel quality play very important factors when running this close to the edge of the motors capabilities.
