idle drop

Not sure if anyone else has this issue or seen it. I wonder if this is normal or something that i can do to help fix it. I have the BAMA tune and currently using the 87 street tune so im not aggressive and hope my #8 stays intact. So im noticing when i have my A/C on the car almost dies when the clutch engages on idle. The car kinda hiccups and regains itself. I also notice sometimes if im in 2nd gear and i let off the throttle it will buck hard when the A/C engages again. I thought i went throught idle learning procedure right the first time but maybe i messed that up. I know when the car was stock it did not do this- I don't thikn its a super huge problem but its kinda annoying at a stop light feeling my engine about to shut off.

I'm no mechanic by any means, but it may be due to the compressor kicking on from the AC. Did you notice it right after you loaded the tune? Is it sporadic, or all the time with the AC on? I'd be curiuos to know becuase my AM/Bama tuner should be here today.

On a side note, my 2010 Fusion Sport had a very similar issue, but would actually die out at times sitting at a stoplight in drive with or without the AC on. Ford issued a fix for it, something with one of the sensors was bad and was a know issue on that 3.5L motor.

Yeah i know its the A/C compressor kicking on i just wonder why its dropping so low at random times. Usually it only drops few hundred rpms.

it is sporadic because it'll be fine most of the day and just once or twice it'll do it- almost like it stops for a split second and comes back.

Call bama and tell them what's going on. They have been extremely helpful towards me with my few problems.

Just drove to work with the ac on and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. However my ride is only 14 miles.

Yeah i emailed bama- waiting for a answer

i would take video of it but its so random that id probably never actually get footage of it. passengers have said dude your car is shaking and dying- i just sit back and say nope itll recover. Im about to put a sign on the dash- car may exhibit vibration at stop lights if A/C is used. Girls might get the wrong message lol.

I'm experiencing this right now, and figured it was just part of the learning process.
I've always done this coming out of hibernation in the spring. (idle-1min, AC-1min,idle-1min)

Couple days ago I was changing the fuel filter, so I unplugged the battery.
Noticed the low idle/borderline stalling, figured I didn't let the car come to temp.

Mine was built after 8/10 so I could assume it's the latest calibration.

Curious as to why you're running 87? It's only a couple bucks difference to pump 91/93.

I'm running 91 performance now. Idle seems little better but not much. Drove in hytek roush and his with basically same tune didn't idle like mine. When I go to dealer next I'll get my PCM updated. But with my tune won't the PCM update be null and void because the tune overwrites that?

I'm pretty new to the Ford game, but it depends on how the tune was written. I've heard of tunes not being affected by factory updates, and I've heard that the tune needs to be re-installed in some cases.

What is the new update for? And your tuner could provide you a new tune with the latest "necessary" updates.

Have you done any data-logging? Maybe your tune needs a tweak. Did you ever get a reply back from your tuner?
