Ok, I'm not sure if I just over looked it or never noticed it before the install of the Steeda CAI and bama 93 Octane tune. The issue is that while idling at a stop light etc the car seems to sputter or feel as though it's losing power and the rpm meter would fluctuate between 500-1000 rpms. I wanted to know if anyone else had this issue or am I overreacting. The car seems to run well but I've gotten a check engine light, p0174 code (system too lean) i checked the hoses and couplers. I may go back to the 91 octane tune, I had no issues with it.

You may want to check your o2 sensors. What you're describing sounds an awful lot like how mine was acting up when one of the o2 sensors bought it.

How many miles are on your car?

I have about 11,000 miles on it. Took it in for service a few days before installing the intake and tune

I was thinking clean your TB but at that kind of mileage is probably pretty clean. I would be very careful about running lean. Could be a problem in your tune. Number 8 cylinder look out??

Which tune do you have?

Being that you have a Bama tune, it's less likely that it's a Cylinder 8 issue. If it is, Bama guarantees against Cylinder 8 failure. But again, I would check the o2 sensors ASAP. Running lean could be very harmful to your engine, as could running rich.

Contact Bama and see what they say. If you didn't have any issues with the first tune but do now with their new tune logic says it's the tune. Not o2 sensors LOL.

Yeah but o2 sensors can just without warning, and that's straight from the mouth of a Ford tech *yesterday*. Better to cover your bases.

o2 sensors can just what? Your post makes no sense. And what Ford tech said what? Trust me, I've been doing this a long time. It's not his 02 sensors. He said one tune was fine and when he "switched' tunes that's when the problem came up. It's the tune.

Fine, since you're having suuuch a hard discerning my meaning, then allow me to correct myself. According to the Ford tech that I spoke to yesterday (the same one who has replaced one of my upstream o2 sensors, my entire 5th gear assembly and about to replace an o2 pig tail downstream) told me that these sensors don't have an expected timeframe life span. They can go at any time. This gentleman at Conway Ford in Conway, SC is very competent and has worked on my car several times without error. Now I'm not doubting your competency, but I do feel that it is worth looking into along with the tuning issue. Heck, it could very well be both. Again, covering ones bases is just the prudent course of action.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing. This sounds like it could definitely be a few different things. If you're having a rough idle there's a chance the Throttle body could need a good cleaning. Since you're throwing a lean code, it could be the O2 sensors or possibly an issue within the tune. Thanks Dan, I think what the problem is when I ordered the 93tune I was sent two separate emails (didn't notice it at first) about 5minutes apart. I loaded the tune up and that's when I started having the issues. When i found out there was a second email I loaded that one up and now thankfully there hasn't been any issues so far. So maybe there was a problem with the tune in the first email and a tech realized and sent me a proper one. I'm keeping my fingers crossed as the car runs perfectly now. No dts or idling problem. Thank all of you guys for all the great advice and pointers. That is why I love this community.

Okay, that's great news! I'm glad to hear your car is reacting normally now. It sounds like we sent you a few different tunes, probably just different octane levels. If you loaded a 93 tune up with 87 or something like that, it could cause some idle issues etc..

Thanks again Dan for the great customer service. I only use 93 fuel so I don't think that was the issue. My only problem now is having to find a safe and legal area in Nyc to test her out fully :D
